i was kicked out of my house and for x-mass my parents got me a monitor and ipod now my dad is saying that i can get my clothes and stuff after i return the ipod and monitor that werte gifts to me, my question is can he do this or can i go to the police and will they make him give me my stuff?
I think it's common sense to give the stuff back anyway. It's kinda rude to keep it after you were kicked out.
the police wouldn't be able to do anything though...you have to go to civil court for somethign like this
i know like ive been kicked out for a week i have no clothes i need my clothing, he has to give them back they are mine i paid for them so he cant keep them from me right?
yeah I understand, but these are expensive things. What if this kid did something REALLY bad to get kicked out? He was stupid enough to get kicked out in the first place. His parents probably think this is going to "teach him a lesson"
Legally the gifts you were given are yours. So are your clothes. Depending on the situation there is possibly other legalities involved. However this is a control issue with your dad. Can't you just work this out with your dad and move back in? Why and when were you kicked out?
no he accused me of smoking to much pot and i was like wtf you said i could smoke a couple times a week, so thats what i did smoked 2 or 3 times a week, he was like your smoking everyday. i told him i wasnt he was like NO YOU ARE NOW GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!! so i left, now a week later he tells me he wants the stuff he GAVE me back before i can get my clothes. what ever im gunna take him to fucking court then cuz im not gunna be able to get a job if i have to wear the same clothes everyday(cuz they will stink and look dirty)
Law's not going to help you on this. They have more important things to do than settle petty disputes. Nah, I'd fork over the monitor and ipod, get my clothes, man up and take care of myself.
It would be cheaper to buy new clothes, rather then take him to court, you know? Lay off the weed for a bit and maybe you could afford some clothes also.
Wow, you are in a tough situation. It is hard to know what the cops will do. They might help you, or they might not.
Somehow I figured pot would be involved. It's a good chance to learn to take care of yourself. Sucks buddy. Going to court would take time you don't have. Get your clothes back and move on.
