IQ testing and the true measure of IQ

I found the test to measure knowledge that a person who would "appear" to be intelligent would have... how is knowledge of cricket remotely relevant to IQ? A bit euro biased are we? I scored a 107 after seeing some of the oh so biased questions and losing interest... above average by randomly clicking most of the test, heh...

Got me to thinkin about what these tests truly measure, and what is a true measure of IQ. The fact that you can study your way to a high IQ score on a test like that is absurd, previous knowledge should never be involved in an IQ test

As a kid I was labeled genius... but my abhorrence for the setup and goals of the school system de-motivated me to a point that I lost interest in learning... much the way the above test de-motivated me... perhaps that is the goal.

The only true measure of intelligence is the derivation of solutions to natural problems without previous knowledge... that said I firmly believe the human of old WAS more intelligent than the man of today, science writes off the larger brain as useless... but evolution lead them down a line of intelligence, which they diligently used to set the path we follow so mindlessly today - even if we as a whole acquire more knowledge in a lifetime, our wholistic ability to acquire yet more knowledge has de-evolved through our meaningless spiritual and capitalist ventures - conformity is the bane of our existence...

That is, each individual no longer bears the responsibility of advancing the race as a whole as such advancement has been frowned upon for thousands of years in the now euro formed world... rediscovery is absurd... idiocy killed the knowledge, literally. A mayan formed world would be entirely different, for example... life's mysteries *could* by now be solved, but the world is distracted...

The advancement of the knowledge of the human race is the only measure and importance of IQ.... its all that truly matters....

A true IQ test must *offer* a bit of info, and ask for a logical conclusion... I'm failing to see the correlation between useful intelligence and finding the next shape in a pattern... answering questions that already have answers does not show intelligence - answering questions that were previously unanswered shows intelligence.

 

well is that a real iq test? because the real one dont measure like your book and school smarts they measure your problem solving ability and just like soem general knowledge stuff like that

 

yea, after the first few rounds i got bored...and just clicked B for the rest of them or the last one on the boxes for the visual ones...got a 108...blurgh

 

But even general knowledge has no place in an IQ test... who decides what everyone should know? Anyone with an IQ over 7 can see through the bias of these tests if they look

I will say I've taken more relevant tests in the past, this one in particular prompted this post because of its extreme bias.

Anyone with the $ and will to cheat/study enough to ace the test can get in.

I would like to go over the MENSA test, I bet it would be much much better.

Right. In fact the one I got wrong was the anagram one. I lost patience and skipped it.

There is no truly accurate test for intelligence.

 

i got all the verbal and visual ones right. you have to have a certain level of experience with numbers, figuring out how to see their patterns and stuff like that. i never did. but i still got a 23, so i dont' feel like a complete moron.
