Ya know, it's a wierd thing. I seem to be the only person in

the world who doesn't get hungry after some smoke. In fact,
I get unhungry. Not that I don't eat plenty at other times but
    no munchies. There you go.

Yes, its a kind of "free buffet". In spain we have them, and it's really economic... you pay 8-12 euros and you can eat and drink all you want, so my question is if this exist in amsterdam....
    thanks

There are one or two 'Eat All You Can' places in Amsterdam - but not many.

Sorry I don't know the exact locations, but if my weed clouded memory serves me correctly I think there is one such place on Damrak, a short distance down from the Sex Museum.

    I remember now...

There is a chinese buffet place where it is all you can eat for an hour. SO basically you pay x amount and get to hang out for an hour and eat all you want.

I do believe its in the centrum somewhere.

Whoa yeah, there's one down the block from Burger King near
Leidesplein. We had an apartment a couple blocks from there
last year. Didn't eat there though. Talked about it as we walked
by. I think it's kinda near Rookies 'r something.

LMAO! You expect that in Holland? We're talking the Dutch here, where you must pay for everything including the bag you put your groceries in. Next you'll be expecting salad bars!

So if you want something like that, it won't be Dutch. It WILL be Chinese, on the Zeedyke, about one block down from the Nieuwmarkt on the right. It is one hour only. Otherwise the Dutch would never leave! ;)

BTW, you can also get FREE tea with your meal a few doors further down at the Eat Mode restaurant, but you have to ask for it. The food is very good there too & a good deal (but not all you can eat).

But my favorite Chinese place is Nam Tin on the Jodenbreestraat (go the other direction from the Nieuwmarkt exactly 2 long blocks - past the Bluebird Coffeeshop). It's a big place full of Chinese tourists and a very large menu with excellent food, and not too pricey.

Well.. hen on the subject of 'Dutch restaurants'.. how many restaurants that cook typically Dutch meals do you know Skip? The most restaurants in Holland are of forgeign cuisine.. a lot of Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Greek or French ones. Maybe the Pancake restaurants (there's one across the street from Paradiso for example) are a bit more Dutch but still.. not a lot of restaurants are out there that'll sell you 'stamppot' or 'erwtensoep'. Strange really, because a lot of people do eat that food.. it just doesn't look good on a plate ;)

Skip is insinuating we are cheap ("otherwise the Dutch would never leave").. well.. I think the reason why we don't have as many 'all you can eat" restaurants is purely the fact that we can't be bothered with stuffing our faces (like maybe americans are?). Eating outdoor is still a 'special occasion' here, something you enjoy doing like once a week with your friends.. you want to take your time, enjoy the food! So there isn't really a point for us to go to such a restaurant.. we prefer a cosy ambiance I guess.

    Hi Velvet,
there is a great dutch food restaurant on the way to the entrepotdok. It's right next to the poort (you know what i mean?) You can get leeks and potatoes and carrots and all sorts of good stuff. You sit at large communal tables as if it was the olden days. It looks snooty from the outside but it isnt.

Dont remember name or nothing else. The fact that i remember ANYTHING is in itself a miracle.

And not for nothing but i heard copper wire was invented by two dutch men fighting over a penny that neither would let go of.

Still if the worst that can be said about your/our culture/country/peoples is that they arent big spenders.... who cares?

By the way, the english language is peppered with phrases that describe the stinginess of dutch people (going dutch, dutch treat etc.) and other unflattering ones like dutch courage (drinking) but that is most likely due to the dutch and english having fought around ten wars against each other....

Hey Mafuman.. you're right. Funny thing is though that we don't think of ourselfes as cheap, that's said here about the Irish.. ah well.. who cares. Sorry if I reacted a bit harsh, I'm not feeling too great at the moment, guess I'm a bit tense or sth in my reactions.

Nigel Powers:There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures... and the Dutch.

-from the movie Goldmember. It's silly.

    Hope you feeling better

    Hey brotha-
it's 7.50(EU) to eat all you can in one hour (that's the closest i've seen to a buffet) and there is one on the Rokin on tram 4 and 25.... your best bet is to find the Dirk Van Den Broek on HeinekenPlein and spend your eating cash there... the Albert Cuyp Market also has some tasty treats for not too much cash... you can also take tram 4 there, also 16, and 24.....
    good luck!
