I've had dreads for 6 months now and they're going fine... only problem is before getting them I had quite wavy/curly hair and now I have loads of loops in them and they haven't got any better over time, and it's really annoying! My friend with dreads said to just cut off the loops which I tried on some but the loops just tured into tufty bits which stick out loads! Any advice?

the only thing that will fix the loops is time mate

dont cut the loops off, the looping is a sign that ur locks are tightening up, just leave the hair alone and it will smooth out over time, if they bother u that much u can always try a felting needle to pull them in tighter or even a croquet hook, even putting a bead or 2 over the loop, but the last thing u wana be doing is cutting loops/frizzies, all ull do is fuck up the locks and they might snap/unravel etc :O

yeah DONT CUT THEM! i learned the hard way. i had a lot of loops in mine and i just cut them out then later on that month i had the ones i cut fall out and thats part of the reason i cut mine out. its a big mistake to cut them. wear a hat, if wrap em up or sew em. thats what i would of done if i was so stupid :(

felting needle is the fastest way to get rid of them. you can stick a bead on them or wrap them too. or just leave them alone like i do. i think they give locks character!
    dont cut them, bad idea.

bad bad idea! only time i ever cut mine was after i combined a bunch of them, i ended up with tons of really long/flat sections rather than square/circles or whatever, and i rip/cut chunks out to get them to combine at different spots. so i ended up with tufts all over my head that wouldn't dread in... it was awful. used lots of wraps and rubberbands to hold things together for a while. definitely don't cut your locks up... ends in badness.

i usually stick a bead overtop or wrap it, since my locks are short enough that a wild kink in them causes them to make me look like a psycho redneck with a dreadmullet. good luck to you!
