I was just watchin TV and they talked about how there ar no hippies no more
    and saying things like that.
We have hipforums that have thousonds of active accounts and most of the are really hippies. I guess were not so visual culture as in the 60's and 70's.
    But why is that?

Because they like to think they've won, that the "system" finally has everyone. The concept of people still being free is so galling that they won't accept it and say "hippies are gone, the 60s is over, now go back to sleep".
    Bullshit now and ever was.

sometimes i ask myself the same question. but hey, if they don't want to live actively in happiness and peace, it's their loss. we can still give them flowers. : )

the visual part doesnt have anything to do with it. in the late 70's kids still dressed and talked and did the same drugs as the hippies of the 60's but didnt live the same life style, they wernt really hippies it just grew into a trend thats why it died. there wasnt really many true hippies in the 1st place. There is a counterculture today and always will be and always was, just differnt then the 60's. I always hate when young people say they wish it was like the 60's again. yes i would love for times to change and a new counterculture to emerge....but yea....a NEW counterculture, not just repeat something that my parents did 40 years ago.

you get the point bro, that's what we should look for! a new way to make our truth, the truth of love over power clear and understandable to the world. being part of a counterculture is different from daydreaming about how things were 40 years ago

Well, I think there are far less hippies then in the sixties. Hippies as a whole have kind of evolved, in my opinion. It's not a counterculture or a trend anymore (which it was in the sixties, surely) so less people look like one. The things associated with hippies aren't all combined in people nowadays who can be called hippie, they are more diverse. Most nowadays hippies at heart don't wear the typical hippie clothes, don't necessarily even listen to classic rock or folk and long hair is in the present day more associated with metalheads then hippies. All these things don't really matter of course, there are a lot of people with love in their hearts and spreading peace, and/or trying to make the world a better place. They just don't call themselves hippies anymore. Very righteous :)

I like to point out once again that someone who isn't a hippie can perfectly live in the same amount of happiness and peace as a hippie as well and can even actively be spreading it. Just like a hippie can be a hippie and not be active at all.
