reaching a state of meditation takes years and years. and if you're in a state of meditation, you understand god, the universe, and you understand that tripping is short-term happiness.

Ask yourself who you are. And when you answer the question, ask it again.

It's best to trip using drugs so that when you have a break with reality you have something to blame it on, otherwise you're what people would call whacked.

Besides, everyone is tripping to some degree or another. Each and every person on Earth over values some 'thing' or another at the expense of everything else. That is a personal and bizarre trippiness.

Now what you might really wish for is means towards having more fun. Ideally a trip is something fun. Though if you read the reports, that's generally far from the truth for most people. I mean, why yearn towards some feeling which sucks?

Even then if there were some way to trip what is the use doing so alone?

So ultimately, if one wants to have more fun then traditionally one would look to their karma. Karma is as karma does. If you want to have fun then create fun for others. Become a fun master.

Karma is as karma does. You cannot trip without trippy karma. Even if taking drugs.

i think because i'm an lsd user i can understand what you mean about wanting to trip for conciousness expansion without getting all snobby on you like some in this thread have.

i found that for me meditating and 'tripping' are very different BUT i find that tripping really helped me with my meditation practice long after the 'trip' was over.

i am an avid meditator and teach workshops on meditation--there are tons of great methods that all eventually lead you to the simple but most glorious "no mind" space. however, tripping is still tripping and no experience (for me) has come close to the experiences i have had on lsd--especially meditating on lsd!

for a fun and easy experience for the beginner meditator you may want to try guided meditation--you just listen to a voice that takes you on a journey. you can do all sorts of inner journey's this way--everything from past life, to quitting smoking, to talking with the deceased. although all these things including drugs are fun, the ultimate goal is to find your inner sanctuary, attune to your inner guru and commune with the divine.

I wasn't trying to sound snobby. I too have tripped plenty on drugs, but I do not think LSD and meditation have any place together. Frankly I do not think any drug should be mixed in with meditation. The reason is because when you do the drug, you become focused on the experience of the drug. Some people become attached to the experience of meditation as well, but when you add drugs in the mix things can become so intense that you lose your focus. The way I see it, you shouldn't mix the too . Acid, weed, any drug can be good for finding yourself and to answer certain questions. But once those questions are answered and once you learn more about yourself, gain that other perspective, etc, leave the drugs behind. Go forth in your meditation always reaching upwards and never focusing on the experience , but rather trying to go beyond it.

You're all wrong and taking a very limited stance. You want to take enough acid to experience the absolute, which is beyond the self or self inquiries of any kind. Alot of the acid of the sixties did that just that, which is why eastern views became accepted and are being discussed and utilized today.
The difference is the dosage, which is difficult to obtain with any degree of purity today, and the goals of useage. The dosage will require at least three hundred mikes.
Get out to the country on a warm summer night, with few if any electronics, maybe one other person on a little lower dosage than yourself, and wish to experience the immanent absolute for the will of God. You will meet Him exploding out of your consciousness.
This experience of the absolute will shift entirely out of the acid trip itself, should it occur, and will be unmistakable. You will never be the same, then, continue the Sadhana without the drugs. Namaste

    Why trip?

You always have to go home afterward.

The purpose of unfolding one's consciousness is to enter into a steady state of full awareness. You can still have your earthly life, but the depth of it will only be realized when you have removed the boundries your earthly life temps you to draw.

Their are different types of meditation. I know the difference between insight meditation and psychedelic trip meditation. In this thread I am asking how to induce trip meditation. among other tequniques of tripping.

    *thank you mara-aum:)

Ever try ketamine? Far more powerful than acid. Can lift you straight up to a higher mental plane, and from there, getting some realization of the divine is easy.

Also - I'd lay stress on doing sadhana for some time prior to trying any psycho active substance. The power of japa for instance, was something I only really came to understand during a psychedelic experience some years ago. It seemed at that time about the most valuable thing in the universe....
