Hey, I was just wondering if anyone else here on hipforums is doing their UCAS forms now? (there must be some). It'd be cool just to know there's someone else out there who's having the same hard time as me, trying to get references sorted, predicted grades, writing your personal statement and all that shit. Where are people applying? What courses are you thinking of doing? I'm looking at Oxford, Kings, Sussex.... er..... Middlesex..... er..... not really sure of the rest yet (terrible, I know). I'm applying for a degree course in Psychology (Psychology, Philosophy and Physiology, also known as the PPP course at Oxford). Also, is anyone going down to Oxford for the UCAS conference on Saturday? It'd be cool to meet up. Anyways, good luck with all that stuff, I just can't wait for it all to be finally done and dusted.
Im suffering UCAs related stuff too lookin at keele and manchester lol for neuroscience and english, dont think oxford would have me, im too lazy
oh damns... you mean you gotta work hard to get into oxford? Heh, I take laziness to an artform, but im trying to pull it together just long enough to get in... then it's all about the slacking. You can't be too lazy if you're thinking about neuroscience sounds like a crazy course good luck!
I did my UCAS form earlier this year, it was one of the worst forms ever. I'm now doing all the forms needed to get money out of the goverment. It's like these forms are made to be complicated just to put you off of applying.
Nice and encouraging.... I really hate forms, especially the E111 evertime you go on holiday, why forms, why?!!??! All the boxes.... the boxes!!!
dont speak of them i got my ucas done fine and dandy, but now they have messed up my student loan stuff - DAMNYOU WAKEFIELD COUNCIL!!
I had to go through UCAS twice, and it's certainly no fun. But it only lasts a couple of months, especially if you're applying to Oxford. By the way, you don't want to go to Oxford, it's full of nobs, go to Cambridge isntead, everyone's mch nicer....
Yeah I'm doing UCAS too. It's not too hard except for the bloody personal statement!!! It's like they give you lots of easy things to do like your name and then wait until the end and give you the evil bit! I'm applying to Oxford, Liverpool, Bath, Exeter, Southampton and Birmingham to do Modern Languages. Which college are you applying to? Summer. xx.
hehehe, i havent started yet. my school deadline is the 30th october, unless we're going to oxbridge, which im not. i have written 3 personal statements. and gave them to my tutor to pull to pieces and tell me its crap, but like the next day his wife had her baby and so hes now on paternity leave. so i just have to wait... ..or print off more copies and give to someone else of course. ive been thinking about starting to fill in the form coz although i havent been to any unis yet, im going to the 2 i realy want to go to soon, i can do the form and send it along to the teachers to check. and send on. the sooner its in the better i keep being told.... all i can say is good luck to everyone. i just hope we all can cope with the crazy form filling in situation. like i have a copy of the hand written form and its so confusing and small, so im doing it online... at least it makes more sence online.
Ive just finished and sent of my UCAS thing... Having to do it for a second year in a row wasnt pleasant..but its my own fault for chaning my mind about the course i wanted to do! ive got a guaranteed place at UCL which is pretty cool so ive been able to apply to whereever i wanted and not worry abotu rejections.. yay
ah my deadline was october 1st coz i'm applying for music colleges so far only applied for royal welsh and trinity greenwich....eek! still gotta do ucas though. ouch, this thread depresses me. ucas sucks. owwwwwwwwww my brain! don't suppose there's anyone applying for music colleges on ehre is there?
I went through all that last spring. It was terrible. I had to get all the references and everything translated from Finnish to English, get certified TRANSLATED copies of all kinds of certificates and blablahblah. So yea, I know what you all are going through. You'll feel great when you're finished though! Good luck to everyone! And Snuff_Fiction, I'm starting in Sussex in... a few days actually. Let me know, if you'll end up there.
I enrolled today ... what a nightmare that was 1. Turn up at gate and get asked to see ID, I say that I'm here to enroll and haven't got any. After some deliberation and looking at me in a strange sort of way they let me in. 2. Go to enrolment desk, they ask to see my letter of acceptance and my passport, I show them my passport, but ... 3. My acceptance letter hasn't got my name on it so it doesn't count. I have to track down my course head to sign me off on another form. 4. Go back to desk with completed form, they ask to check my passport again. 5. Now they want my UCAS clearing number. I explain that I didn't go through clearing, I applied and got accepted in June. It still won't let me in without a clearing number. 6. Get on phone to UCAS while sitting at desk, they give me a clearing number and tell me off for not sending off the clearing form that they sent me (They didn't). I tell them that I never got it so they agree to send me another one. 7. The woman who has taken over dealing with me asks to see my passport ... again 8. She now hands me another form that I have to fill in to confirm that I am eligible for a bursory and my fees paid. I fill in the form and join another queue for payments. 9. The woman at payments gives me the correct form and I fill that one in instead. 10. Now I have to queue for my student ID card, they ask to see my passport ... again. 11. She takes a really crap picture of me and makes me an ID card ... I am now a student 12. I get in my van and bomb it to the town hall student support section to find out about my loan etc. They haven't received my application. 13. I fill in another form, while worrying about being parked on a yellow line, I show these people my passport as well, they smile at me as if to say "don't worry it might never happen". 14. I go home and die.
