anyone know anything about this stuff? theirs a place thats really close to me that sells it and i read about it on the dreadhead website apparantly it locks hair up twice as fast or something of the sort, anyone ever used it? is it even neccesary?(actually i already know that answer)
never heard of it, what is it exactly? most dread sites advocate wax swhich we all know is bad bad bad, dreads DO NOT HAPPEN FAST AND CANNOT BE RUSHED so if its something to rush the process, its not necasary and probly harful to the process dreads are a lesson in patience best to learn some before ya start or you'll learn when ya have to start over
yea its basically something to make em lock faster, not wax tho so i dunno what it really is, on a side note i absolutely love your dreads soaring eagle, i saw another pic you have where you got two people holding em out and its one of my favs, just outa curiosity how did you go about starting them and how long have you had em?
Lock Pepper- Zinc oxide, silicone dioxide, methyl salicylate, rosin, bentonite, wintergreen mint the mint would be the only ingrediant id concider dread safe really, but ofcourse isnt helpful or necasary this stuff id bet would result in flaky itchy dried out brittle knots simple sea salt should give better results without costin ya
just let em happen, probly played with em alot at 1st, some started just by forcin beads onto strands of hair till they just stuck there and should be 18 years in the next couple months i think...
yea thats all im doin, i used a tiny bit of wax when i started recombing my dreads in but only used it on like 7 of em and ive already washed it out at this point... i hope
i did use the lock peppa... because my hair is very fine and straight-ish and slippery, and it really helped it actually make knots at the beginning. it's definitely not necessary, and it DID dry out/make my hair a lot more brittle, which is not good, but at the same time i had been dousing it with tons of conditioners for years, so some drying was a good thing and helped it knot up. i used it when i backcombed, and again a couple days before i washed each time, for about a month or two. haven't used it in ages though, so i'd say it works great for starting out, certainly not necessary, but if you use it, use it sparingly. good luck with your locks drew!
I use it on the ends and it does help with the knotting process but just don't breath the stuff. It is very fine and everytime you put the bottle down on the side a cloud of the stuff puffs out into the air. After a very short time I can feel it in the back of my throat mamos
It is quite handy for loose hair if you want to tidy up for a job interview or something, but if you over do it, it can dry out your hair and it can cause breakage. Never happened to me though. Use sparringly
Yep, I just got a bottle of this stuff. Same as everyone else is saying...although it appears to help keep in mind it is not LOCKING up your dreads before your eyes it is simply breaking hairs to help them stick during palm rolling. Use as a tidy up only not as daily maintainence.
yuck, i would never use that stuff. just look at all the shit they put in it. all of dreadheadhqs product are crap.
Anybody can go, "Oh woah! That things got chemicals in it! That shit must be whack". I hate to break it, but salt is a chemical, everything is a chemical, happiness is a chemical!!! All Zinc Oxide is is burnt Zinc. Its fine for your dreads, and if it were soluble (which it isn't) it would be fine for your skin too. Don't be put off just because something has a technical name. Learn some chemistry first. Ethanoic Acid doesn't sound all that great, when in fact its one of the best natural products available, Vinegar!
