This movie came out right around the time the first Star Wars came out (Episode IV) I thought this movie was bad ass when I was a kid. Anyone else ever see it?

Actually, this movie came out around 8 years after the original Star Wars. I thought it was a cool movie ... sort of a typical 80s teen angst movie with a twist. Galaxy Quest reminded me of it a bit.

Got it on DVD, very cheesy but it had to be done.
A pity the bad guys aren't as mean as they look. :$

The great Robert Preston was in this, he played Centauri, the alien recruiter that came to the trailer park to recruit the video-playing whiz kid. The special-effects were pretty innovative at the time of its release, and the story had a sweetness to it that made it really likeable. ok, i'm done.
