i got the seeds from some tree i bought. i have them in 16 oz. cups with about 3/4 orchid soil (only stuff i could find) and 1/4 of some really good soil i found in my back yard (about 8 years of decomposed leaves, some real fine stuff.) anyways, im hoping that they germinate well enough. i hope to transplant them into buckets and put them behind my back fence, which leads to a freeway. the only problem i forsee is the highway maintenence coming up and finding my plants, but since its up on a pretty sizeable hill, they'll just be too lazy. i dont really want to take any chances though, so im looking for some camoflauge tips.
FYI plants in pots are bad news. Put them directly in the ground. If someone comes along pots, for one .. finger prints. Second, they'll KNOW someone is cultivating them, if you just plant them in the dirt, most likely they'll get ripped and that's all. In the pots they may post a camera, or watch the spot for you to come back.
alright. but do you think i'll have this problem in california? it seems the marijuana laws are somewhat lax around here. and nobody is gonna be walking around there. its a freeway sholder, and the only way you can get up there is through some major cuts. i wanna camo it too though. just in case
yeah. up against the fence. theres some anise plants that should be pretty nice cover once they bloom
i've always thought the roadside is a great place to grow. no one's looking around, just straight ahead and trying to get somewhere as fast as possible. as long as you're not spotted tending your plants, should be alright. if you space them out randomly and don't overdo it number-wise i'd expect them to stay hidden. drew you've got drain holes in those cups?
yeah i do. about 4 of my seeds have sprouted so far and a couple of em are close to a centimeter by now.
that sounds great! if you want successful transplants be certain that you have a fantastic root system. what that means is that the roots should fill the cup completely. the roots, as you probably know, store food that will help your plants when it comes to transplanting. in a couple weeks turn the cup upside down and knock the root mass out of the cup to see how it's doing. of course this should be handled gently.
if the roots are coming out of the bottom, check them the way i wrote in an earlier post. drew don't be scared to knock your plants out of their pots once they get some size to them. the roots will hold the soil together for the most part and yes you will break a little bit of roots off in the process. they'll grow back. be careful putting them back in of course.
yeah its looking good. two of them are starting to stretch so im gonna move them outside tomorrow. theyre at about two inches.
its pretty sick. i have 3 2 and a half inch sprouts. one of them has a purple stem. oh i almost forgot i found that seed in a bag of perp. =D
it looks like the seedlings aren't getting enough light. see how the stem is white and it's stretched quite a ways to the first set of leaves. they need some good light that means at least 8 hours of full sun or whatever else you've got. though most folks put them under for much longer.
yeah i just put them outside this morning. theyve had about 12 hours of light today. i just checked on them this morning and some color is starting to come into the stems. 3 more have sprouted (i think, because the soil im using isnt sterile and there are some other things growing in it.) but im pretty excited about the purple stem
-The purple stem doesn't mean it's any strain of purple haze (sorry). One in about every 5 seeds comes in with a purple stem due to a raised nitrogen percentage in the soil. If you grow your plants with soil rich in nitrogen, almost every sprout will turn that color. -After the sun sets you need to bring those sprouts in and put them under another light, even just a desk lamp if you don't wana spend big $$$. -Another thing, what kind of haze have you been smokin that has seeds in it?!?!? -Those are definently NOT ready to be in the ground yet. Give it another week or so. -Also if one of those plants turns out nicely, don't forget to clone it!
color in the stems sounds good. your seedlings are missing that. usually the leaves will be close to the soil level when they first unfold. you might have some stem weakness later on since these got so stretched but with some good light and a prayer maybe they'll pull through.
my mom found my plants i guess... she was like "we should talk about whats growing in those cups on the hill" and i was like damn... i still have them though, i moved them right afterwards. i hope this doesnt have too many repurcussions
