Why do Americans make fun of the rest of the world?

Why do Americans have a tendency and an inclination to make fun of the rest of the world. They ridicule British people about their bad teeth and when they talk about French, they say " French people stink! ". Rightfully, the truth of the matter is completely the opposite. According to the International survey, the British are way ahead of the Americans in dental care and oral hygiene. And, French people use more soap and perfume per capita than Americans do. It appears the French are ahead of Yankees in hygiene but they keep it to themselves, and they never brag about this particular issue. However, Americans, always consider themselves to be "the best" and almost always make fun of the French, the British, the Mexicans and/or the rest of the world. Why is that?!

Many people think that the Americans are a little bit stupid.
Probabely that's why they think so :'D
But, nevertheless there are allways preconceptions between cultures.

hmm... the germans say roughly the same things. the french are unfriendly and peculiar (they're called frogs here too), "******" is still quite a common word, and "schlitzauge" (slit-eyes) are chinese... man, every culture thinks they're the best. pretty much every person thinks he's the best. it's human nature. one notices it more though, because of the size of america. that's 300 million people all together. germany is only 80 million. and norway is like 4 million. making fun goes on everywhere, in the US it's just on a larger scale. and it's not like the amis don't get plenty of flak either...

flawed people like to point out the flaws of others. while at the same time skirting the issue of their own flaws.

 

I think most of the bullshit you mentioned is put out by the media.I've never heard any disparaging remarks about other countries from regular folks I've been around.Of course ,when I did hear some stupid remarks,they were from republican types that use bullshit and dirty tricks as their modus operandi.One of the good things I like about our country is the melting pot aspect.There are people here from every country in the world and most of them seem to find a niche with which they are comfortable.If any of you were to come visit,I think you'd find most of us are caring ,warm hearted people.Just like in any country,there are places you don't go--people you don't fool with--but all and all(aside from the present administration that has wrecked our name in your and others eyes around the world)we're not better or worse than anyone else.

 

Although,I may have to somewhat concede the stupidity remark--look at who's running the joint!!

okay look Ive lived in England and a lot of people do have bad teeth alright...I dont know what thats about, and maybe they do brush more but from personal experience Id say we have better teeth in the US (depends where you go)

French people might smell after they have sex, like most people, and Im pretty sure they have a lot of sex. But other than that, I dont remember them being too stinky...

Anyway, I tihnk someone is getting a little bit too defensive because these are just jokes dude...nothing too serious.

I just want to see different perspectives from different cultures of the world. Every nation makes fun of other nations. Some countries target a 'favorite' country. Some countries don't do that. The reaction is different. That's all.

It was a joke. That's why I asked if you knew where 'the four corners' was.
Anyway, " The Four Corners " is a known place in the US where 4 states meet. Arizona, New Mexico,Colorado and Utah all meet in one corner (+) .Look it up on the map and you'll see what I mean. So the joke goes, if you commit a crime on that very spot, which state will prosecute you?
