diet - this is the cornerstone of every fat loss or muscle gain diet out there. what are you eating and how much of it are you eating? food choices are important, but when you get down to it, fat loss is based on consuming less calories than you burn. then exercising helps. its helps a good deal. intense exercise will work faster (lifting heavy, running fast, etc) so what have you been eating in the past week or so? if you don't know, then start writing down what ya eat. what do you do for exercise? and how much do you want to lose?
Is a month and a half just an arbitrary goal time or do you have a specific event you're wanting to lose weight for? Just curious, as I find weight loss and fitness goals easier to reach if I have a specific date in mind (like a birthday or trip). While both exercise and diet will work to lose weight, I have personally found better results while putting an emphasis on exercise (probably because my diet is already good). Through exercise, you can add as much of it as you want to your routine, while in dieting, you have to take something away. Additionally, the body just looks better when it is changed through exercise (toned, muscular). (Note, of course diet and exercise should be combined for best results, but in my experience, a lot of people who need to lose smaller amounts of weight (5-20 pounds) usually just lack a good exercise routine.)
