it's uncommon sense to realize that your colon is not a rigid structure, and can become inflamed and densified. I know first hand that an organ can take on an entirely new structure. I had a fatty liver last year, which meant that my liver cells were being replaced by fat cells because of a genetic cholesterol problem. It was reversable, as I'm sure a similar colon problem is too. And yes I would imagine that a colon being stressed by such a condition would be pretty painful. I'm afraid your reasoning coupled with your obscenely high number of posts isn't enough to convince me, all it does is speak loudly of what your priorities are. If you want to post something more scientific than alleging that there is a mass vegetarian agenda, I'm all ears.
http://www.snopes.com/horrors/gruesome/fecalcolon.asp excuse me, yes that's true, stomach cancer. Wayne's case is controversial and can't really be used to define the problem of irregularity due to diet leading to disease. But it doesn't change the fact that your entire digestive system (not just the colon) can be blocked up by food remains if there's not adequate fiber in the diet. If the diet is poor enough, a lot of this stuff doesn't even make it to the colon, and can be a factor in cancers of other organs in the digestive system. For the record, I'm not a vegetarian, although I really limit my meat intake. And I do believe that people eat too much meat. But the problem is from lack of fiber, not too much meat necessarily. Meat can still comprise 20% of your diet, as long as the other 80% is fiber-rich food (I speak in terms of human health, not animal relations).
I had steak tonight and I've heard that takes about 4-5 days to leave your system, as it basically just sits there and rots.... that's why you might be "gassy" after red meat. I thought it was the mushrooms.
Can you imagine what that would look like? 45 lbs is about the size of a 5 year old kid. People are going to notice. I hate that whole "stuff stays in your colon" bullshit.
wow, nice of you to resort to a lowly tactic such as post count the burden of proof is on you to provide definitive science that backs up the notion that the colon can hold 40+ pounds of rotting food. not mine. and you even posted the snopes article that says that its false. jesus, great reasoning you got there. at any given time you'll have 4-7lbs of matter going through your body. other than that, then you have a problem. and need to see the doctor. not some TV special for colon cleanse. i get enough fiber. i eat a lot of meat - a lot of red meat. but i also eat a lot of chicken and tuna, milk, beans, nuts. i also eat tons of dark leafy vegetables and other vegetables. i know what goes in my body. it gets digested.
I gave the post as a concession, fully knowing that it contradicted what I said before. The only thing I was every trying to prove was that fiber is important. Since I didn't think science was needed to back that up, I felt no burden of proof, but I also didn't expect it to be on anyone else. The only reason I mentioned post count is because you gave so little backup to your assertions that I assumed you were pontificating and allowing your post count to speak for you. Some people respond to that, I don't. I don't find it distasteful in general to have a high number of posts, I just don't think it should serve as a reliable indicator of a person's credibility. I only wanted more substance from you; I was never concerned with winning a debate, only in a bilateral expansion of understanding.
i'm with you on the fiber content. most people eat crap, literally. but if you have a problem, go see a doctor to get immediate help. some informercial product wont' solve your problems. then take control of your life and figure out what you are putting into your body, know the nutrients. people need to step up and take control of their life, rather than buying a "magic bullet" to take care of their problems - becasue the doctors won't do it for you, family won't, friends won't... i just find the notion of having to colon cleanse a bit absurd and lacking any scientific basis from what i've read and from what i've seen people who are well established in that industry talk about.
I think I know the infomercial to which you're referring, and they also cited the distorted John Wayne thing. And I agree, it's just another supposed quick fix for something whose only real remedy is prevention. I don't think there is a specific pooing schedule that is considered optimal, just that the poo itself should have certain characteristics: monotone dark brown color, little odor, sausage or loaf-shaped, doesn't leave streaks on the toilet, etc. Consistently weird colored, messy, liquidy or rank-smelling poo would warrant either diet revision or a doctor's visit.
Warmie has weiner dogs. I assume it was one of them. I had to clean up cat poo that one of the kids stepped in. I had to peel it off the floor at the top of the stairs...:barf: There was another ball of it at the bottom of the stairs and my 6 year old suggested we had dung beetles
I use to have to wash the poo (dingleberries) of my dogs butt... He is no longer with us, so I am very grateful that I decided to keep his dingleberries... Cripes, I'm actually sad now.. Thanks poo thread, thanks a lot...
Man, what a great topic, LOL... Once I was afraid of a UA, work related, that I felt I would soon have to go through. I drank a 4 ounce bottle of Castor Oil, (on my wife's advice) to try and rid myself of the THC and toxins in my body. I weighed before and after it was all over. I lost 19 pounds. Musta been the clogged up crap in my digestive system... Remind me to NEVER do that again. Besides not ridding myself of those dread cannabinoids, I felt like I was gonna die. Firstly, Cator Oil has to be the worst taste in the world. Secondly, it'll make you shit for two days (esp. if you drink four ounces of the crap). Thirdly, you'll feel like you've died and went to poo poo hell. Trust me. That was the first and LAST time I'll do that!
are you being facetious? Who went off topic? If they did was it between just a couple of ppl or was it intended for the overall education of all participating in the thread? Since the context started off with a mysterious source of a poo smell, were we only supposed to comment on that exact niche of poo conversations? If I'm guilty, I guess next time I'll start a whole new thread to talk about something that is already being discussed. I'm seriously asking: just how narrowly am I supposed to conform to the premise of the thread, as stated by the title? Also, in case anyone wants to actually read what I posted, I never said the colon could hold 45 pounds of anything. No one on this thread said that. What I did say was that they found 45 lbs. inside him( which yes I know there was no autopsy and it's controversial). 45 pounds of scum being retained in the entire digestive system and elsewhere in the body due to poor diet is not only feasible, it's probably common, esp. with older heavier ppl.
