I am goin to start at University of Wisconsin Whitewater and I would like to do something with computers and networking I will post this in the education forums as well, but I would like any input as to what would be the smartest way to go for schooling. What do you think is the best path to chose here? let me know. thanks, nick
Learn about computers and Networks would be the best thing if you want to learn about networking. I would suggest you get a degree in network engineering, setting up networks and analysing protocols, and email servers etc. Try and get in at the MIT as they seem quite bright there
There is only one, single state in the USofA that is approved to hand out Computer-related Engineering degrees. That state is Texas... of all 50 states. There are better alternatives if you want to go the extra mile. I would recommend you go to college and take some general computer courses before you decide which route to take. This will give you a better idea as to what you like and what your strengths are. A 2 year degree in CIS/IT is only a start. You should get certifications as you learn the material. Such as the A+, Netwrok+ and Linux+ certifications offered by CompTia. http://certification.comptia.org/ A degree and 3-4 certs will get you a good paying job just as good as an Engineering Degree from Texas. joe
I think these days, I'd get into network security. IE: Anti-hacker stuff. We do need stronger security to help in the Identity Theft arena... Can ya get into MIT?
