do I look like a girl in this picture? I know it's hard to tell, but it's the only one I have of me with dreads. at least where the face shows. if you can't decide, then maybe imagine me with dreads, going from this pic? sorry about the quality... I ask because... and I mentioned this somewhere I think... I'm pining for dreads again, but my self-confidence is rather troubled. I tend to look embarassingly female as soon as my hair grows out of the usual buzz cut, especially because I'm very small and have minimal facial hair growing capacity. I've gone since christmas with no hair cut and I'm already starting to get too nervy to go on, I've still got months to go before the hairs are long enough to dread. can someone tell me (honestly) whether I'm imagining things?
Those are some nice dreads! I don't think you look like a girl. Even if you do to some people in that first pic, it's taken from a weird angle, so you can't really judge your appearance based on it.
woah thanks for the responses. I would happily grow a beard but unfortunately I don't have it in me. the pic is a funny angle because it's a reflection in a weird sculpture. okay... well thanks, so like 50% think I'm a girl I can live with that. peace, you lot!
ummm. just occured to me to ask, how long must the hairs absolutely be to start dreading? I mean the shortest they can be in order to start locking. I'm a little wee bit impatient...
Well, to be honest, you look like a chick to me in both pics. Worry not about the thoughts of others. In time when your dreads get sick looking, and you get a beard, you'll be quite the hotty. (No Homo) Namaste, John.
dude... you just look kinda androgynous. and i agree that the first pic, the wierd angle didn't help things. but the thing that confused me was the different hair colors. is it naturally red and you dyed it in the short hair pic? or did it naturally change colors when you cut it? or is it just a lighting thing? anyways... let it grow, when it's 3 or 4 inches section and backcomb and then leave it alone. before you know, it'll be long and gorgeous and dready!
Who cares if you have girlish qualities. Gender expectations & roles are bullshit anyway! Males that accept their feminine side or feminine qualities are more 'manly' in my books than the others. Besides, you can probably use it to your advantage and get a free drink or somethin' every now and then =P
it's naturally red... was a lot brighter then, the outside of the dreads, something about dreads and sun and bleaching or something. but the hair that didn't get bleached, the usual hair, is darker now. you're cool I agree actually, it just bothers me sometimes when people call me a girl. although the drink thing... yeah thanks... if you were a homo that'd be fine too. I think you're pretty hot
well yes before i read the post i thought you were a girl, BUT i must stress that the camera angle probably doesnt help as it doesnt really show your full face. look just start growing dreads who cares how you look...isnt that kinda the whole philosophy of dreads?
Nah, I don't think you look like a girl, just an attractive young bloke. Screw what everyone else thinks, do what make *you* happy! *EDIT* Just read you're 17, so you're young, the older you get the more masculine you'll start to look.
true... also true. um... thanks? or were you talking to someone else? so I've pretty muched calmed down now. androgynous is okay by me, so... yeah, I just have to wait now til the hairs grow in a bit more. is 3 or 4 inches really enough?
