I love apple. I have my macbook and before that I had a powerbook, both great machines. So I'm not complaining here. But I just don't get it. I spend many hours in coffeeshops to get the wireless signal and I'm always surrounded by macbooks, Ibooks, powerbooks, and macbook pros. I'll walk into any coffeeshop in town (In CO or CT I go back and forth between both states) and I'll be egulfed by a sea of glistening white apples. Apple has become more popular in recent years but unless I'm sorely mistaken they still only have a minority of the laptop market. What gives? Why is it that there is a greater tendency for the apple user to frequent coffeeshops? Are owning an apple and drinking a chai tea the new young, hip things to do? Are apple users caffeine addicts? Are they more often then not unemployed bums without any friends so they can afford to spend so much time in coffeehouses? Maybe they are just difficult to get along with, leading their parents/kids/lovers/housemates to tell them they can't hang out there and they have no place else to go. Or maybe they are poorer than the average joe, not being able to afford a wireless service in their homes? Or maybe apple laptops are more transportable those made by Dell, HP, and Sony.
Its true. Apple seems to always claim they are the alternative to PCs due to their reliance on Microsoft software, but then again there are many manufacturers of PCs in all price ranges, and only 1 of Mac. I've been liking this Toshiba so far
Its because apples are designed to be the universal computer, which they are. When we make hotels on the moon they will no doubt have mac's in the lobby.
Looks like this could be the end of the world. You better watch this YouTube video, it could save your life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7T_KGHubIGo&feature=related Now you understand.
Because Apple, and everything they make (ipod,iphone....), is a fad. People only buy them because the want "a mac". Anybody that actually buys a computer for quality, speed, price, availability of third party programs, games etc. ...doesn't buy a mac.
Yeah, the iFag iFad bullshit is annoying. Jobs turned a corporation into something cool. Look at all of those pseudo-hipsters running around with their 2000$ laptops thinking that they're cool as shit. Goddamn indie fags. I'm gonna switch to Linux soon and let all the bullshit fly.
lulz. coz if you are smart you would use a mac. and since most smart people have busy jobs, they need to carry their laptop with them. since they might be needing to do work almosst 24/7 they would use the 15 mins while drinking coffee to ...check their emails etc. just a thought
Smart people use Macs? I can buy a used PC for 500$, tweak it up for another 300$ and get a whole lot more performance out of it than out of a 2000$ Mac.
and PCs have been the prime business computer all along, thats why mac created their own system to run the Microsoft business suite
Agreed! I don't like Apple computers; they're most definitely a fad and I would never buy one; they just aren't upto scratch! It's a great marketing ploy to get people to pay lots of money for things that aren't value for money!
macs and pc's have different strengths. people who dont want to wait forever at start up just to find out you have to reset it due to system failure, non responding programs, slow internet access, next to no good multimedia programs, crappy graphics, viruses and spyware, but more games and programs are available... choose windows. people who dont want to get frustrated at their computers every 2 mins, want good graphics and multimedia programs, no viruses or spyware, speedier loading and internet access, simplier system usage and optimum value for money... choose macs. we all want different things. i thought you all would be more understanding of other peoples choices of computer systems. shame on you. also. apple has been around since windows pretty much. so it can hardly be called a fad. you cant call ipod a fad, its an extension of todays time and tecchnology. anybody calling a discman a fad?
Granted, macs may be inherently more secure because they are what, unix based, but still, one would expect that hackers would targer less mac than pc because of the ratio of their market shares. I don't know about you, but I actually do call ipod's a fad. Limited user modification, sound quality, supported formats. If I download a file, whether it be mp3, wma, flac, i want to play it, rather than apple's proprietary and DRM format. I have a creative zen vision:m, and I love it much more than an ipod. built in, it has a fm radio (with recording), microphone, and many more options. I would rather have one of my scenic photos as a background that the typical white.
I'd switch to linux, but my laptop has 64mb of ram, it is ancient. as for linux distributions, i am a fan of ubuntu and fedora.
Practically all system failures and viruses on PCs are the user's fault. It's pretty damn easy to keep your PC safe and working. I bought mine used, and it still hasn't crashed or slowed down in the two years I've had it. I do not see how slow internet access has anything to do with the machine itself. Most people run through external moderms or wireless as it is. The multimedia programs that come for Mac also come for PC. Plus, good multimidea software is out there, it's just extremely expensive. The graphics on the PC are great, get a good graphics card with a nice gig or two of ram and you'll be doing great. (and still paying much less than what you would pay for a Mac running the same specs). Simplicity isn't always a virtue. The PC is much more accesible. You can practically do anything in DOS. The only reason that the Mac does not have many viruses is the simple fact that they're using a processor which hasn't been as well studied by the hacker community of 15 year old fat Nirvana fans. Give it a couple of years, Mac will have a nice variety of viruses. They do have pretty efficent processors though, and I would prossibly get a Mac if I was a media major or something. But yeah, Macs man... that's some genious advertising.
