you let off the choke before you finish inhaling so you can clear the chamber. if you have ever smoked from a bong its the same principal as pulling the slide out to clear the chamber. i personally dont like pipes without a choke glass pipes with a choke hit so much better.
glass pipes are the best but metal are not bad my boy's metal pipe(we callit the little green machine) hits lke a motherfucker nd hits better than some glass bowls. but i still love blunts
