But that would require all media players t conform t the new protection scheme as defined by sony. So will this be open t all manufacturers or only sony approved? ie who through's the most money at them. Anyway sony got its fingers burnt last time trying copy protection which patched windows so certain file extensions were made invisible n this patch couldnt be uninstalled worse still this was all done without the users knowledge.
There are nearly 2.4 billion people in the world who want all for nothing. As I said before, what ever floats your boat. So long as the police don't raid your house and find a stash of disc drives and a Manhattan of burned DVDS. Continue oh thy brothers. I once heard a saying: I fought the law, the law won.
Are you SURE about that? I've just picked up the first CD i could. It is: "PUREGARAGE<<REWIND<<BACK TO THE OLD SKOOL" On the back of the cover it says: "This compilation: P[circled] 2007 WMTV, a division of Warner Music UK Ltd. © 2007 WMTV, a division of Warner Music UK Ltd. All Rights Reserved. Unorthorised copying, hiring, LENDING and broadcasting of this recording is prohibited! A Warner Music Group Company. Distributed in the UK by The Entertainment Network. Firm Music working in assiciation with WMTV. Designed @ www.mentalblock.co.uk. WMTV067" I could go through all my CD's, and most of them will say the same thing, although not ALL CD's/DVD's/Videos have the part about lending. I used to play bass for a successful band untill we split just over 2 years ago. We hated the fact people could download us for free without paying royalties - Although saying that, we still made alot money from it, and still do! Copyright is a lovely thing.
Its a grey area that about lending, like I said you dont actually own the music you buy only the media its on and the rite t listen to it. But there's so many second hand music shops or ppl sell there old music off privately that its impossible to inforce. I think the illegal down loads have done some good as the price of new music cd has come down by quite a bit. Weather its rite or wrong is another matter but cheaper music can only be a good thing.
Fuck the music industry and their fucking money grabbing ways. It's a shame that such a creative and inspiring industry has become self-obsessed, greedy and distant. The reason we all enjoy such a great interest in the industry is because of the trail blazers right up until the mid-nineties before it started to cost the price of a months rent to see a few people half a mile away on stage, fuck that, let it destroy itself. What happens when your hard drive with your music collection fucks up? There was nothing wrong with vinyl, the only way you could rip that off was by taping it which was never a great alternative and the industry turned a blind eye for one the record costs were high; and two as an artist other than Top of the Pops you garaunteed greater exposure. The invention of the CD and downloadable music is only about reducing the production costs and using the courts to stamp out illegel duplication. The industry created this new market so fuck'em, greed again!!!
I saw the Money programme this morning. I could see how many people are tempted to download music and stuff. They even extend their temptation by running dvd factorys. It is only when the bill come and smash down your door and murder your next door neighbour's cat, that they see the result of people's temptation to get something for next to nothing. Money for nothing, get your chicks for free.
