A lot of people do. Many upper class Canadians, go to the USA for health care. We have tons of snowbirds (Canadian seniors who live in the Southern U.S. during Canadian Winters) who get health care their. People with serious illnesses get treatment all the time in the USA....a Liberal MP (Belinda Stronach) got Breast Cancer treatment in California. And if your life is on the line, you can betcha people with the ability to will not wait on a 2 year waiting list for treatment in Canada - they will pay to get it done in the USA. Heck, the President of Italy (with universal health care) got treated in the USA. We need you guys to stay capitalist! Your where all the countries with universal care go if their in need of dire surgery! lol Even our government is paying to send people to the USA for treatment.
I agree. I do not understand the need to ban private practice and make people who can afford it suffer. Illegals and everyone else in the USA WILL be treated under the current system. Why spread the misery?
Exactly, I'm not a "pure" Capitalist, but I can't stand this Canadian ideology, that bans people with the means (money) to purchase private health care. Its a very slippery ideology that makes it the "ideology of misery". Netherlands has a good system imo. Keep it capitalist, and build a gov. health care plan into welfare for the truly needy. But don't force people who can afford it, to not have the availability to it. Universal health care is crashing in Canada anyways. Just today a Quebec report is recommending instituting 25 dollar fees for each doctor visits to weed the people out who are their with a sniffle. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNe...219/castonguay_080219/20080219?hub=TopStories Canada has an aging baby-boomer population, the socialist, universal, monopoly is going to crash soon unless we allow private care into the market.
Who are you to say this and redistribute money in a way to provide their care? Because YOU think it is right? No offense my friend, but you shouldnt call people like the above poster "scum" because he doesn't agree. I don't personally agree with you, but i refrain from dropping F-bombs and resulting to personal attacks. Anyone can take a few extreme cases to show their point. Ther reality is these cases that show it is "not good enough" are the minority, and in this country, a miniority does not rule. I do not see people dying in emergency rooms and on the streets because the care "isn't good enough" Every system has flaws and someone gets pushed under the carpet if you will. If there was not such widespread abuse of the current systems in place, do you think they would work better?
I think you mean "resorting" to personal attacks. And honestly, if someone thinks that poor children don't DESERVE health care just as much as rich ones do, fine thats their opinion. My opinion is, that person is an asshole. Thats just my opinion. Anyway, I erased that because it was in bad taste. You dont see people dying in emergency rooms or on the streets?? Then you must be blind. It is a widespread problem, and something must be done about it. And whats this about minority rule?? of course, the minority doesn't rule. But it doesnt really matter if the people suffering are the minority, all that matters is that enough citizens like myself have enough of a social conscience to constitute the majority. And you can bet, I am not alone here.
I didnt call anyone an asshole, I said that anyone who thinks that children...well I said what I said, you quoted me, so you should know. Would you disagree with what I said??
I was in the hospital after a very serious accident. I spent 2 weeks there and my bills were well over $200,000. I received quality rehabilitative care, and ended up not having to pay anything for it. Hospitals are obligated to do a certain amount of charity work (in a dollar amount) yearly. If they know you obviously can't pay something it's likely they'll write it off. And those that are stuck with a 6 figure bill can pay something like $20 a month and have no credit problems or anything as a result. Sounds fair to me....I don't see what all the fuss is about. Actually, I do (AGENDA AGENDA AGENDA ALERT).
I live downtown in a deent sized city (150k) 2 blocks from the public hospital. My brothers girlfriend is a nurse. My dad has spent alot of time in and out from a serious car wreck. From my personal experence, i havent seen or heard of anyone who was refused treatment and left to die. I had a friend with no insurance in a bad wreck, a DUI wreck at that, taken in, treated for 4 days and released. I am sorry, i am sure there has been someone who has been refused treatment, but i do not see it as a "widespread problem". Maybe an extreme case here and there, but like i said, no system is perfect and you cant change a system to catre to the EXTREME minority, the very few that are not treated. I view treating illegals, millions of them, who are here recieving treatment, taking it from those who are legal US residents, as a "bigger problem". Think of the millions that could be re-applied to treating Americans, the very ones you speak of. As for opinions, i am sure you think people that think that way are a plethora of names, but it is common decency to not call them that. Cussing and name calling take away from your argument. For the record, i agree anyone should be treated, and under the current system, they are.
the current system is f'd up for more than just this reason. Prices are far too high. Also there is a difference between being treated and being given adequate care. and again, no, not all people are being treated under the current system. There, you are simply mistaken.
There are many reasons prices are high and i 100% agree they are too high, i think we disagree on the reason why and the solution to the issue.
And you don't think this would happen under Socialism???????? Hillary has fooled you, sir. Trust me.... the rich will always have priority... even in Communism- more so in Communism than in the Free Market.. Ever read Animal Farm??? That is the reality of the Nanny State.
