    Hi Guys,

Will be growing a few plants for the first time myself. I've researched it and will germinate my seeds soon.
I'm a bit confused as to what to do if you have both male and female plants growing in the same space. I'm not looking to clone or anything, just want to reap the harvest.
Do you split them up? Should the male polenate the female?
If I do split them up, then should I germinate all of my 10 seeds then select only the females to grow once sex is evident?

I'm a bit lost with this part... any help?

Germinate all 10 seeds. Plant them up [individual plant pots for the roots] and grow them vegatively for as long as you like [your choice]

Then, change the light cycle to 12/12[flowering] and the plants will start to preflower.

Keep the females, and treat them like god.

As soon as you see a male, take it out of the room and throw it away. Or stamp on it.

The only time males are needed is for seed production.

If your growing bud to get stoned - the male cannabis plant is your enemy.

One more thing... Once you grow the seedling, can you tell the sex before you transplant to the larger pot? Or do you go from tiny pot and when at the right hight tranplant to a slightly larger pot and then to normal size pot after that?
Reason being is if I transplant all seedlings to the larger pot used throughout I would have to buy ten and fill all these with soil... just means I'm going to be left over with alot of excess pots and soils once I've selected my 3 females.

    Hey hey hey!

Follow just what you have wrote. Transplant progressively it helps the plants develop a good root system and prevents them from getting root bound. Healthy roots = healthy plants.

After a month or so in veg you will start to see alternating nodes indicating the plant is mature. Normally at this point you will be able to see the preflowers (pistils for the girls and "balls" for the boys) at the nodes. Sometimes you don't. When you put them into the 12/12 light cycle you will see what sex they are in a couple of week or less. Normally males show first and then you remove them before they release the pollen. A note of caution: if you see the male preflowers while they are in the veg state they will open and release pollen (you would be amazed how the pollen can travel and seed the girls).

    Cheers BudBill,

Final question - at what height should I transplant seedlings and how long is the vegetitive state? Or are there indications on the plant itself?

There is not a set height per se' it has to do with the plant using up the availiable soil. If they are in a peat pot tranplant when you see roots coming out, in a small pot when you have to start watering every couple of days. The larger the root system the faster the plant will use the avaliable water. After a while you will know.

The veg state can go as long as you want. You can base it on seeing alternating nodes - where branches are not opposite each other in pairs (means the plant is mature) or base the height off of your grow areas limitations in height. Just give room for growth during flowering. Say a 2' plant should be a 3' plant after flowering.

When it comes to flushing, do you do that in the vegetative stage as well as flowering?
I've read people to it once a month.

As long as you repot once in a while there is no need until the last few weeks of flowering. The only time that it would need it in the veg state would be as a last resort in case over overfertilization. So after the initial seedling period is over transplant to a small pot-> 1 gallon pot -> 3 gallon pot into flowering ......weeks pass.... 3 weeks or so before buds are ripe start using only water (pH adjusted if needed).

Many ways to do it but it is essentially the same procedure. :)
