Born here (fairmont), raised here, in the navy for 20 years then came back :)

With so many of us, I think we need a subforum like the other states. I'll msg skip.

No place like home, eh Chuckf2000! Congrats on surviving your career. I did something similar, but I spent most of my time in the air guard, full time, after doing the regular AF for a few years..... Keep us informed of the possibility of a subforum for us eer's!
    Peace.... Farmout :)

Subforum isn't going to happen. Skip said he's tried it for WV a couple times and they just die out.

Chuck, I love the Fairmont/Clarksburg area. The terrain is great, not too dramatic, and it's close to everything else in the state. I'm from the Wheeling area originally, went to WVU, and now I live and work near Wheeling, where most of my family still lives.

Hey, Chuck. Nice to meet you, too. I'm surprised more people don't know how beautiful West Virginia is.

It's a well kept secret, west virginia. The word is starting to get out though, what with the FBI fingerprint center, NASA and all in the area. Fairmont is growing bigger and bigger. A big waterpark/resort is going in here which is going to create a draw. Lots of construction going on with the infrastructure.

Chuck, true indeed. My dad was born in Pocahontas County over in the eastern mountains, and there's been tons of development there related to ski resorts. The place has radically changed even in my lifetime. Not necessarily a good thing. I was born and raised in ultra-liberal [IMG] Charleston, lived about ten more (crazy) years in Morgantown. I go back to WV all the time since I'm living in KY right now. It is a beautiful state, and as far as finding people more on my wavelength, there are pockets all over the state. If you look hard, they're there, just way underground in most places. The state does have incredible natural beauty, just hoping they don't pave it all.

I used to work in Boone and Lincoln Counties. God's Country.

How I long for those days.
