just dont let her. take any punishment she gives you untill she finally realizes that you want it not just as a fashion statement but as an expression of yourself. i was through the same thing. let her ground you and take things away. you still have your hair, shell give up in a week an da half.

No MOM has web defender on the computer unless hes writing us from the libarary shell know every word he says and all he reads...

Might take her a month... Could he hang in there that long. do yourself a favor and please your mother... Cut your hair... Thats old hippi voodooo with the long hair and shit... Real hippies dont look like bummms....They get educations and become doctors and lawyers and shit.. You cant change the world unless your part of it and bumms arnt part of the world they are part of the problem...

This is the stupidest thing I've heard today. Real open minded people know that no group of peoples need to look any particular way.

Not to mention, this subculture loosely based on nature & freedom certainly either promotes, recognizes, & doesn't & shouldn't put down long hair.

I let all my hairs grow all over because it feels right (fuzzzz) & free, despite the judgement I have neglected to ruffle my feathers over.

Just be free short or long-haired & I will continue to have faith that we have grouped a bunch of cultured people ("hippies") that have promoted peace & acceptance.

    love everywhere.

it always took both my parents physicaly tackling me and sitting on me to cut mine
    \
you i guess can tell them that if they cut it then youd just shave it into a mohawk or something they'd like even less
but also realize they cant control your hair for more then a couple more years....and hair keeps growin all your life

or show em this "& tell em this is what happens to ppl who were forced to get haircuts..lol

Natural is best, it will grow back. I can understand your frustration. See if they will settle for a trim......:)

Tell them you have a rare medical disorder where your skin cells grow over your hair and that if they cut your hair, they'll really be cutting you.

if you really like your long hair do all you can to keep it.... but theres also nothing wrong with being a short haired hippy...the cops are so much easier on me than my friends with long flowing hair or dreds...

I went through the same thing a little bit before your age... I got my hair cut like BOY short under the strong advice of my mom in 3rd grade... I had stick-straight, shiny, beautiful hair. The next year, with steady trimming, my hormones must've kicked in; my hair went from silk smooth and straight as a pin to a mop of unruly, extremely curly hair. I had no friends until 7th grade because everyone made fun of how much of a moron I looked.

I stopped cutting my hair in 7th grade, and I've grown it out boob-length. The curls, now weighed down and more workable, are my greatest assets. I will NEVER cut my hair shorter than this. I'm in the process of growing it out until it reaches a pretty sizable length, but my curly hair takes a much longer time to grow lengthwise, because the curls make it shrink up.

People are surprised when I go swimming- my hair is temporarily weighed down by the water- and they see how long it REALLY is.

It's not your mother's hair, it's yours. Try a compromise? Like maybe getting a small trim or something to apprehend possible split ends.

What? This makes absolutely no sense at all... How does refusing to cut his hair make him a bum?

Parents always want their kids to look the way they think kids should look and kids always hate that. If it's really about having long hair and you know it's what you want, you can try to buck it, but if it's just about being what you think a hippie should be, i really think the days of hippies being defined by long hair are long gone. I consider myself a hippie and everyone i know considers me a hippie, but i havn't had long hair in 8 or 9 years.

When I was your age, hair was not the issue it is today. Chewing gum or not tucking in your shirt would get detention or even worse suspension from school. For a hair violation you reported to the school office until a parent picked you up from school and a haircut was required for admission the next morning. Those were the rules then in a Public School.
While you live with your parents and under their roof, do what you can to keep the peace and not fight them. Learn some principles in conflict resolution and how to work WITH those who you are in conflict with to have a Win-Win outcome.
