getting a permit

    my friend is getting his permit next thursday and he is getting his physical monday and i was wondering if you need to pass a drug test to get a permit in PA. thx

    I would think not. The physical is probably to make sure that the person they are allowing to drive doesnt have any serious illnesses such as diabetis or epilepsy where they could potentially have a seizure while driving.

    ok. but lets say they do find pot in his urine, would they contact the police?

    they dont urine test for a permit or a license... ever
    so dont worry about it... and I doubt they would... if they did I think they could just tell you, you couldnt get your license/permit for an x # of months

    also they cant drug test you without telling you. Also just because you have pot in your system isnt really a crime except in those dumb states with internal possession laws.

    the doctors arent allou t contact police, anything they say in court is thrown out the window and is stricen from the record

    not true as i understand it. if ordered to buy a court, a doctor or hospital is required to give them your record. the doctor cannot and will not ever volunteer any medical information about any patient...unless forced by a judge who finds some important legal reason to get a warrant or court order for it (perhaps as if it is important to an already on going trial you were having).

    i'm not a lawyer and could be wrong but i have asked a few lawyerly-type people about this and this is what they said.
