http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/09/06/njoint106.xml An article in The Telegraph...simply idiotic, fueled by, most likely, utter naivety. I don't consider myself a stoner, rather, I smoke rarely. But I do know, as someone with anxiety disorders and bulemia, that marihuana does not, and has never been, the root of these problems. In fact, this plant has proved to be VERY helpful in helping me overcome my eating disorder. I can't express enough my annoyance with this article. Simply stupid. Dumb dumb dumb. People want so badly to point fingers at the cause of tragedies. In this case, it is the dreaded...MARIJUANA!!! Or no, SKUNK!! Dun dun dun! *rolls eyes*
Ignorance can only be defeated by education and the advancement of the truth. Don't let the propaganda get ya down, that's what it is intended to do. We are slowly winning.
I read it's legal to own up to an ounce (or maybe half ounce) for personal use in your home (or something) in Alaska.
How can they actually say marijuana caused her to killed herself? I mean, ok I get it if she got creeped out while she was high for her first time or something but I dont think that would cause somebody to kill themselves. O wait I take that back, what about that cop about 2 months back who called the police because he was high and thought he was going to die....well I dont know but I dont think a persons mental health is really effected that much just from a lil pot.
Even if this article wasn't full with slant and bias, thats one case out of hundreds of millions of people around the world who have tired pot and had no problem. And yet alcohol and tobacco cause much more harm and kill so many more people, and theyre legal. On top of all of that, theres little to no proof that pot caused this girls death. It could have been acid that caused her mental breakdown, as it can do and it doesn't show up in the system after 12 hours, so theres no way to know. Or heres a thought, maybe drugs had nothing to do with it and she just became depressed and sadly, killed herself. Unfortunatly, it happens all the time. People always want a scapegoat.
That article is mostly bullshit but there are some people who should probably stay away from pot, or at least not smoke it around the wrong people. Just like LSD, pot's effects are largely determined by set and setting. Also if you have a family history of schizophrenia, you may want to be careful, if not completely abstain from marijuana use.
i wouldnt necessarily call it propaganda.. really, it depends on the person to determine how they are going to mentally handle it. i have had my own bad experiences with smoking which have subsided since i accepted The higher power into my life (that higher power being God or some other kind of higher force, i have not completely decided).. its all about disregarding stereotypes with cannabis, when you smoke it you have to do it with an open mind, keep some good friends around, understand that those crazy things you are thinking are not worth dwelling on, youre gonna forget about them in 5 minutes anyways haha~! people that consider marijuana evil do so because they dont understand it.. a lot of smokers themselves dont understand it. before i was able to understand it even albeit, at a mediocre level (because there is so much experience left to be gained), but in its general understanding how it behaves and effects the mind. (also, it doesnt help im a deep thinker who likes to meditate when im high..) well, people are only fearful of that which they do not understand, right? this is just my point of view.. but i dont believe weed is bad.. it just requires understanding, the abolishment of lies regarding it, people to educate themselves. smoking in moderation is good to, you know. people just need to know their limits. why dont we just get coffeehouses like they have in amsterdam... ?
You didn't find god, you found strength in yourself, if you want to call yourself god thats fine with me . You will never be happy if you serve a higher power... you will serve the needs of someone that doesn't have the best interests of mankind in mind - that someone is yourself, in the eyes of yourself, trying to see through "god's" eyes.
LMFAO I laughed good and hard for 15 mins about that one.... LMFAO!!!! PEOPLE generally accept herb... the GOVERNMENT doesn't. Drug tests are so horribly biased.... Either way, speak with your VOTES.
Going out on a limb here, really far, and the limb is like unsafe not sturdy. Should they even bother making weed legal? Everyone who smokes now will keep smoking, its not hard to get it now or smoke it somewhere. Would legalizing it really be such a wonderful thing?? I think it being illegal atleast keeps people from doing it as much. Such as in between work and school. Yes people do but if it was legal and every kid came to school with an ounce or to work it would be worse. Keep it illegal. Let the flaming commence.
Well I think so. Imagine being able to choose from 30 strains of weed. You could go for couchlock one session, head high the next. I think it would be so awesome being able to get the same shit over and over again, and being able to choose from a wide variety of strains. I know LOTS of kids smoke pot before school and at lunch. Also why because its legal would kids bring an ounce to school or work? How often do people go to school with a 26oz of vodka? Just cause it was legal wouldent mean you would be aloud to bring it to school or work.
If weed was legal it would probably be illegal for people under 18/21. Alcohol is legal but you cant go into work drunk. Also if it was legal do you realize how much cheaper it would be?
If it was legal, we'd all grow it and the powers that be know it. But that's not the real reason it's illegality is guarded so tenaciously. The big wigs know just how hard it is to control those who've expanded their consciousness, who've gone within and realized what's really important. It's not news, but pot tends to make you more spiritual and introspective and narcotics like alcohol and heroin make you materialistic and selfish. One makes you expand, and the other makes you contract. Now alcohol definitely has it's perks, it can be useful to have your consciousness temporarily contracted as it makes you courageous (ignorance is bliss) but in a general sense it's my belief that abusing booze keeps us down as a collective whole. Alcohol is the grease that keeps this old machine going. Well, one of many uh, "greases".
i know, right? like that article and that case with the kid and the salvia, the mourning parents blame the "drugs" they used. the kids never say anything about it. I think the parents want to turn on something to blame. Why not drugs? "dRuGs ArE bAd"!
i don't know why parents think their kids are so vulnerable and impressionable. Actually I do know. the parents methods are way too outdated and ineffective, so the kid responds to anything else. Since the parent sees that his/her influence is not heeded, they assume that the kid is impressionable to a clinical degree, when really the kid is responding normally to the world and not to the mystical traditions of the family or culture.
Haven't taken the time to read the article, but just a few words... Everyone responds differently to drugs. Not everyone will have the same experience as you. I too have an anxiety disorder. I used to smoke weed everyday for relief. It did help. But Im certain it has made things worse for me in the long run. Nowadays if I smoke weed I do notice that the day after, my OCD is FAR WORSE than if I didn't. Personal experience tells me that weed at least has a negative effect on me, so Im assuming it can have that same effect on some other people (not all!) To the original poster...Do you have OCD? It is an anxiety disorder, and many doctors believe that eating disorders are related to it as well. Believe me I know weed can make your symptoms go away, but it definitely can also agitate your symptoms long term. And just in case anyone is interested, weed is pretty much legal here. You have to pay 100 bucks to get a license, and then you can smoke all the bomb shit you want...down the street there is a weed store that sells weed pills, hash oil, weed energy drinks, breakfast cereal, fruit roll ups, and all the strands of bud you would ever want to find. If you don't have a license and you get busted with weed, chances are they will let you go with your weed in hand. If not, they'll just make you throw it away. At least in California, they are getting WAY more lax on pot.
"I read it's legal to own up to an ounce (or maybe half ounce) for personal use in your home (or something) in Alaska" http://norml.org/ Just for the ones not aware of the norml.org site for all your state to state laws just go to tab hit the state you want and up comes the laws for the smoker/seller.
