Has anyone had much success with the standing-water type terrrium. I'm pretty sure that mine is fairly sealed, but it doesn't seem humid enough. What gives?

Try adding a small aquarium pump and a bubble stone. That's what I use.

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly do the aquarium pump (air?) and bubble stone do?

adds more moisture to the air and adds a little extra air exchange, completely sealed is bad, it needs 3 full exchanges of fresh air an hour.

Are you using perlite to humidify or are you just trying to hand-mist? You should definitely use perlite.

perlite is real good too, very good, a still pool of water is bad.

I've had good luck with leaving water in the bottom of my bins. I'd completey clean the bin and change the water every week though. And of course the water was in the bin, not the trays.

in lieu of perlite, I'm using those little clay balls they use for hydro weed ops. Seems to absorb water well. I have them two inches deep, with one inch of water.

2-3 ounces of liquid is all you need inside your bin. The trays go in seperatley. Good luck. Don't forget to keep the whole thing at 80-84 degrees. Heat is a necesary component for humidity, not to mention for the shrooms.
