So I've been thinking about maybe dreading up for some time now, but I don't know if it would look ridiculous on me or not. What do you folks think would be best? Dreads, or leaving it alone?
Dreads are a commitment and a lifestyle, more than just a "look". I honestly think they look fine on anyone willing to commit to them. They just might take a while to look real good. You're beautiful without them. If you feel like it's what you want to do, let it go! But don't expect it to lock up overnight, and don't expect to have much control over the whole thing!
OMG they will take away from those eyes......I got lost in those eyes......your hair is perfect if not needing a little shorter to expose those eyes and cheeks.
ya totaly should but the decision to dread shouldnt be a decision of looks but of personality..if you feel theyre right for who you are (not how u look) then just do it... but as far as looks since that was the question, you'd be irrisistably gorgouse with em you say youve been thinking bout it awhile, thats a clue that its part of your personality but your afraid it will look rediculouse..well, to dread is to be willing to look rediculouse awhile, cause dreadin is more about how they make u feel, then look..eally i cant think of anyone who would look bad with em dreads are beautiful...your beautiful..to me seems like a perfect match
I think you'd look great with dreads, you'd look great with any hair really but if thats what you want go for it.
You look so pretty and your hair is so nice, dreads would just not look as good at all.. It makes me sad when I see a hot girl with dreads it just sad.
First of all, you're beautiful. I have dreads myself, so I have an affinity for them. I personally think you'd look amazing with them, but that's your decision. I think you have to be a very confident person to go against the grain and express yourself in ways that other people might find unattractive, and to me, confidence is an extremely beautiful and attractive quality. Whether you choose to dread or not, you have an amazing face and you're lovely no matter what. I've had mine for 4 years, and they're the most fun hair style I've had Oh, and second of all, that quote from Desiderata in your profile is great I love that prose poem. P.S. If you decide to dread, you might want to wait until your hair is longer...
Ooo, thank you for pointing that out, that was a question I'd forgotten to add. I was thinking they probably shorten up quite a bit? And thank you for the lovely compliments, everyone!
you're beautiful. but sorry id ont think dreads would suit you.but like other ppl have said its more a personality choice then for looks.
all the more reason to dread superficial guys like you, looking for the "hot girl" unabl to see the deeper beauty dreads arent about turning on random losers theyre about shinning that inner light \being truly in touch with the self, and doing what makes you happy, not to please others, but to please ourselves theyre about afar deeper beauty then any "hot girl" could ever acheieve having said that...the op has true beauty..natural beauty..and dreads would suite her very nicely
^Superficial huh.. you read a lot in to a few words, that’s a sign of a superficial person I think. Hehehe Maybe I should explain my real feeling on dreads a little better. Where dreads originate from India a person would denounce life and throw dirt on them self and let their personal appearance and hygiene go to hell. And that is kind of the impression dreads give me. I have lived on the road for a while and a lot of hippies on the road grow dreads and they get together on school buses and vans and such and when one of them gets bugs they all get bugs, so dreads gives me visions of lice crawling all over peoples heads. And what’s so wrong with likening smooth silky hair it is a sign of good personal hygiene. I really don’t think it is superficial to be attracted to the way someone takes care of them selves. I have been around dreads and I am not into them for more then just an appearance. Anyway that is just my superficial feelings on dreads. AmeliorateLJ either way I sure guys will like you, a bad hairstyle is not going to kill your social life.
^speaking of superficial crap... zihger you seem to think that everyone is the same... and you have a very negative view of dreads. just because you've known a few people who've gotten buggie problems or who haven't kept their dreads clean, doesn't mean the rest of us have poor personal hygiene. for me, having "smooth silky hair" was a daily struggle... i had to put all kinds of chemical crap in it and heat it up with blowdryers and hot irons... it just didn't work for me. i have hair that has a mind of its own, i have a mind of my own, and my dreads represent who i am... not how often i shower. my dreads are always clean, and they never stink, and i do shower, nor do i have bugs, nor have i ever had bugs. now, to the gorgeous redhead who wants dreads maybe..... you are beautiful! your eyes are totally amazing... and you would rock dreads in an unbelievably hot way! however... as soaring eagle said (and some other cool peeps!) dreads are a lifestyle, a commitment to yourself, and really have nothing to do with what other people think. in fact, you'll have to really not care what other people think if you do decide to dread, because obviously, even on hipforums, there are lots of people in the world who think dreads are dirty or gross, or ugly... and they judge people based on those perceptions. if you want them, go for them! if it feels right to you, do it! if you're not sure, maybe take some more time to think about it. if you love the dreads, you'll look amazing in 'em... i loved my dreads from the moment of each of their births, and even when they looked like total crap, they (and i) looked awesome, because of the love shared! even old people i was expecting to have a heart attack were like.... whoah... that's really cool! lol... follow your heart and soul on this... you can't go wrong!
your hair is freakin gorgeous as is, especially in these two: i think your damned beautiful without the dreads... im not a huge fan though, i think they suit very few people and are, well, overdone. but apparently not liking dreads makes you superficial and shallow, not someone who has particular preferences
