so, my boyfriend and i are musicians, and we are currently discussing a cross-country road-trip. we would like to visit natural areas and hip cities, camping in a tent or staying with people we meet or in hostels and playing gigs to earn cash for food/gas/housing. we want to meet people and live simply and freely, spreading love and having a damn good time. i have a fund to use as we start out and whenever we are desperate, but i would like to use it as little as possible and be as self-sufficient as possible. i'd really appreciate any suggestions from experienced budget travelers/backpackers/nomadic types. thanks!
