Hey everybody, I'm from the US, and I really want to find a job in Europe. Ideally, Switzerland, France, Italy...I speak a little French, not much else.

I've been looking for quite a while, and can't figure out how to get a foreign job! Has anyone done this? Do you have any recommendations, even if you haven't?

I have two degrees (Biology and Political Science) but not much applicable work experience. I just don't want to be here anymore, and I would do whatever it takes to get something good over there.

I don't know about the countries you mentioned, but I'd say unless you go through a company based in your own country you're not likely to find work doing what you're educated to do. if you can bartend, you should have no problem finding work in Europe, people tend to enjoy speaking english. believe it or not, you guys are actually sort of exotic over here :)

if you're serious about wanting to get away, I recommend you jump on a plane or a ship and get over, then find work once you're where you want to be.

Yeah, that's kinda what I'm doing at this point. I've got something set up at an organic farm in France, and I'm going to go and see what happens from there. Maybe it's easier once I'm there.

It is, im UK and looking to go to US, at least i was until i realised the sheer pain in getting visas etc. I had a friend who was from Ohio? who came over with no idea what he was gonna do, met someone in the airport, they got back to my area and he worked in a local bpub for six weeks, was a blast...
