As much as I love the national jam bands, it isn't always fessible for me to do a lengthy run plus don't forget the high ticket prices that many people won't/can't pay. I love local jam bands and then as they grow to a regional band and then eventually a large national act. However, since I moved back to denver 2 years ago, i haven't really found myself into the local jam scence. Sure I'm at almost every national show that rolls through town and some of the smaller acts, honky tonk homeslice, great american taxi. But I'd like to know what is here as for the local/regional jam scene! Help!. I'd also like to see this thread used for your region where you want to find out about your local bands or inform the rest of s about whats local in your area. From my regualr trips to st louis, let me suggest the naked groove to anyone who finds themselves in the gateway to the west. Also Cicero's in the Loop has great jam music most evenings.
Philladelphia has a great festival called Jam on The River every year on memorial day weekend... this years being headlined by the Disco Biscuits. then Cypress hill, bustle in your hedgerow, and grimace federation.... Sound Tribe Sector Nines a kind of new agey group thats cool....
STS9 was local to Boulder for a few months, but I don't think that is what Show is after. HHS and GAT are local to us, brother! A lot of the local music is swinging electronic (Octopus Nebula) or truly into the various grass-fusions (Boulder Acoustic Society, Zebra Junction) Check out Wasabi, Wool Eye, Paper Bird, Whitewater Ramble, Newsense....
Pennsylvania, New York & New Jersey Area The Natural Breakdown. (NJ) - This is my favorite band. I reccomend them to everyone who enjoys life. Some of their shows are, to me, as magical and spiritual as an mushroom trip. consciousness and community are synonymous with natural breakdown. http://www.myspace.com/thenaturalbreakdown listen to "drop out boogie" and "Hallelujah".
