We were supposed to go out on a night dive to collect things for our aquariums before the children arrive tomorrow, but we couldn't because the surf was up and the swells were gnarly...

I can hear the waves crashing on the shore, even with my windows and door closed...

Methinks a storm is blowing in!

Normally I don't have a jealous bone in my body. But in this case I'm willing to make an exception. To quote Adam Duritz, "It's been so long since I've seen the ocean... I think I should".

    PS- Hi Annie!

    Ponds are scarce like leprechauns...

    Hi Zoomie :)

Yes, I am pretty lucky. Though this is my last season here on the island, by choice, I will miss the ocean and the island. Something about the vastness of the ocean gets me...and the sound and the smell...

Not sure there is anything like it.

If anyone wants to come for a visit, there is a beach house with each and every one of your names on it! Just throwing it out there! I'll be here til the 29th of May!

    :)

I wanted to go to the ocean so bad today, but worked all day..

here was the surf report for today..damn..to big for me anyway..haha
SURF: 6-10 ft. - head high + to double overhead occasionally 15 ft. and fair conditions

Recap: MONDAY- A steadily fading but still very healthy WNW groundswell put lots of spots in head high to easily overhead surf. Good breaks were getting up to double overhead and standouts saw triple overhead sets. Mainly nice conditions through the morning then onshores picked up in the afternoon as the swell was back sliding.

I surfed Sunset Cliffs in January once, and damn that was cold! But the coldest I've ever surfed was in Daytona when the water temp was 49.

Dude...sunset cliffs is my favorite spot in the whole wide world : )

damn..49 degrees..that is chilly..I think today the water was 55...it is unfortunate all the surf sucks in the summer when the water is warm.

In Florida it only got good when there was a hurricane. I think we surfers were the only people praying for them, us and building contractors.

Still is. The Central Gulf Coast isn't even any good for sailing anymore. I grew up in Brevard County, Cocoa and Melbourne Beaches. The Atlantic has gotten rougher and the Gulf has gotten calmer.

But there's no such thing as global warming... right.
