    hey guys!

the last year living in DK and at the roskilde festival I've been discovering many cool bands.. do you know/like some of them??

I adore especially Gåte www.gaate.no neofolk/electro metal from norway..really amazing..especially if you are so lucky to hear them live...

and also Gjallarhorn, Vättinä, Garmarna, Två fisk och en fläsk... all based on traditional scandinavian folk... with some baroque music as well... amazing!!!

and I like also some metal from there... like Stratovarius, Nightwish and Sonata Arctica...

and I love the danes Blue Foundation... trip-hop... much trance and spacey... but live are 10 times more than the album (which is still cool, though!!!)

what do you think? do you have any suggestion for similar bands? :-D

Listen to Taake, Alliegance, Nokturnal Mortum, Abigor, and Niden Div. 187. The first 2 are from Norway I think.

burzum should be from Bergen... therefore is norvegian...

also Marielle is from Bergen... perhaps you do not know her... she is a little friend of mine... 15 years old and already recorded an album... www.marielle.no :)

I like Taake, Darkthrone and Abigor as well, if I should name all the bands in that genre from Scandinavia that I like I could go on forever.
Bands like Otyg and Thyrfing are great as well.
And isn't Falkenbach also from a scandinavian country? Great music.

But nowdays I even more appreciate Gjallarhorn, Vättinä and Garmarna :)
I also love Amorphis and the humppa metal of Finntroll, who are both from Finland.

People who like scandinavian folk, definately should check out the album Storm - Nordavind, absolutely fantastic!

I also have an album of Skäggmanslaget, from 1971 and an album of Filarfolket, great folk rock as well!

I'm listening now to Amorphis (Far from the sun) and Storm (NOrdavind)... but they are really far from what I was expecting... far from the neofolk of Gåte and Garmarna... but I still have to finish to listen the album...

nordavind have some parts I really like... especially when the female voice Kari in singing... like in "lokk"...

but Amorphis is a bit too much "power metal".... the folk part is inexistent...

I'm trying to find something from Två fisk och en fläsk... but it seems impossible... :-(

Yeah, Amorphis has not really folk influences in their music.
Storm - Nordavind is a very nice mixture of scandinavian folk and some atmospheric (may be even black) metal ingredients, but not (black) metal in any way. Very different from bands like Garmarna indeed.
Don't know anything about Garmarnas tour info though..

Don't you love the vocals on Nagelsstev of Storm? Damn, I love it!

I have to say that the scandanavian countries ie. sweden,Norway, and of course Finland etc, are producing the best metal around, as they historically always have done. Nightwish,HIM,Lullacry,Stratovarious,Arch Enemy,Darkthrone etc etc are just some of the great bands to come from these countries and i love it!!!:) I mentioned Lullacry in that list, you may wanna check them out, theyre really good!

    peace and love
