Do you or anyone you know use Pot to increase your religous "high". I can imagine that it would be a great drug used to "connect" with whatever it is your connecting to. Espeically in religion. I've never smoked pot right before a ritual or even meditation, but, I think I may just do that tonight. x-posted
religion = not for me IMO the only reason it "connects" you to a higher power is because... your high, it changes your perception/ the way you think. not to the extent of something like LSD, but it changes it enough that you may start believeing whatever you are conceiving when you are stoned. What i think is that, religion/ belief in god has been pressed upon many people since birth, so that, subconsiously when you get high, which partially breaks thru the doors to your subconcious, you automatically look to a "god" to answer your prayers/questions/meaning of life/etc...
Marijuana can be helpful in grasping abstracts, and grasping the nature of faith is easier when in an ambivalent mood. "it is this, and that, but this destroys that, and that becomes this." contradictions of faith... so much fun, until the headache comes....
i done a satanic ritual while high, i read about sexual demons and all that, i could have sworn someone was stroking my thighs and then my penis felt really good. it was awesome
Good question dixie. We are actually having this very discussion in the Philosophy forums right now, and it is definitley two sided  It all comes down to what religion, if any, you follow and what your beliefs are. If you believe that in order to Truly connect to God one must rid themself of thought or an actice consciousness, then marijuana only adds to attachment, pleasure, and illusions, which will in turn cause suffering. External or internal stimuli will only serve to block the emptyness needed to be embraced in order to allow the soul to take control of the body/mind consciousness. On the other hand, if God is not something we need to discipline ourselves through meditation to connect with, than I dont see how smoking herb would get in the way and in fact may very well enhance the ability to attune the mind to the universal consciuosness. Considering that you put Wicca in the title, Id imagine that herb would enhance the connection, but I am not very learned in the practices or belief of wicca so I guess I cant really say. I know several people who have adopted this state of mind and they smoke so, ya just going off of observation here. Personally I dont think marijuana is made for contacting God, I think it is made for introspection and healing, but this is temporary while God is eternal, so in my mind I would never use it for such reasons. Psychedelics like LSD and mushrooms have definitley connected me with God but at the same time I am always left with the feeling of "I am learning something but this is not quite the answer Im looking for" due to the mind manifesting (thought and creative thought process) properties of the drugs. God to me feels like something which we can not judge, comprehend, describe, etc so the answer I am looking for in fact will never come. It is an un-answering, a reversal process of undoing the network of memories we are so tangles up in which constitue the concept of 'self' and my meditation is of the purpose of erasing the attachments, desires, and expectations I have, not gaining more  To each their own as always! Much love and good health. Namaste
I am an eclectic, very spiritual person. Smoking enhances my mind, my perception, my ability to view the world.
for some reason I feel guilty when I'm stoned and doing rituals or any other spiritual activity.. It feels like I'm not coming with a "pure" mind.. I have done a ritual while drunk one night, that was interesting, wont do that again.. my boyfriend woke up wondering why there was a pentacle made of salt on the floor and why I had used all the salt lol.. he thought it was cute.. I on the other hand felt retarded for doing it drunk..
Nice, too bad you used all the salt, coulda had another margarita! LOL. I like everyones thoughts so far. Especially about the gay deamon seduction. *Makes Me Hot!*
May I ask which school you associate yourself with? Im not Buddhist but I am partial to Mahayana sutras, the Surangama Sutra in particular. Beautiful stuff Namaste
