Hi Everyone! I am not sure how many of you prog. rock fans are familiar with a group called “Rocket Scientists” featuring Erik Norlander (also in Asia), Mike McCrite, and Don Schiff (king of the Chapman stick). They are a big hit in Japan and Europe, and are starting to perform more in the U.S. Hopefully you had a chance to hear Rocket Scientists at the Rites of Spring festival last year. They will be performing in Cleveland on March 29th at a club in Lakewood, OH (a suburb west of downtown Cleveland) called The Winchester. There will also be a “special guest performance” by Lana Lane. We were able to get a fantastic group rate of $55/night at the Holiday Inn Select on Lakeside (216) 241-5100 in downtown Cleveland (normally the rooms are over $100/night). You do need to mention that you would like the group rate, ILCORWIN, negotiated by The Winchester when you book the room. So I guess I'm asking everyone to come and support RS on March 29th. It will be a great way of spending your time, and once you are here the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is walking distance from the hotel. If you are interested in attending the concert, you could get more details by checking out The Winchester's website: http://www.thewinchester.net/index.html If you are not familiar with Rocket Scientists, take some time to listen to some of their music by clicking on the following link: http://www.myspace.com/rocketscientistsband I will forward a flier to whoever might be interested in coming. Thanks in advance for your support, Dena Henry
Rocket Scientists suck. Who would pay 55 dollars to see such a crappy band when there are thousands of better bands coming to down during amrch and april. Trash!
Rocket Scientists ROCKS! Hey Squilla - Have you even heard their 2006 CD "Revolution Road"? And the reissues of their older CDs in their box set "Looking Backward"? It's all top notch music by highly trained musicians. This is one concert I would pay top dollar to see! Where to do you get $55? $55 is the hotel rate in case you want to stay overnight. It says $20 on the site at http://thewinchester.net/schedule.html. And that is reasonable for a concert of this calibre especially with Lana Lane AND there will probably be an opening band. Technically, you are getting three bands for the price of one. To Dena - you go, girl! Bands need more supportive people like you.
I decided not to respond to the person that said Rocket Scientists suck, because first of all everyone has their own opinion. I am VERY confused about the opinion because there is no way that anyone who considers themselves as knowing anything about music could say Rocket Scientists suck. I also feel there is a good possibility that this person has mistaken the group for another group??? Not sure just could not follow the message at all so I dismissed it. Luckily we still have a large group of progressive rock/metal fans here in Cleveland that know good music when we hear it, and this group excels in masters as far as musical sophistication. Looking forward to a sell out crowd, and the way things are looking, there are not going to be very many tickets left to be bought if anyone is still considering going and has not made their move yet to purchase a ticket.
