I'm gonna play Banjo Hero.. lol Just got my brand new Deering Goodtimes banjo this morning.. ended up spending about $200 more than i was wanting/expecting to pay.. but its all good.. i like it a lot... i didnt take any pictures of it... but here is a picture of it from the website of the store i went to today to purchase it... the store is amazing has a museum and everything... famous musicians have bought guitars from there such as Eric Clapton...
Thats awesome man, banjo is an instrument I've been meaning to pick up for a while, but currently I don't have the time. What kind of music are you looking to play with it? Bela Fleck is a fantastic banjo player who plays stuff varying from bluegrass to jazz fusion if you are looking for some inspiration.
i'm definitely leaning more into the bluegrass and three finger/scruggs style... one of my buddies use to play banjo in a bluegrass band and he plays clawhammer so he'll teach me clawhammer while i learn scruggs style on my own.. im definitely a better picker than a strummer...
I love clawhammer style, Ralph Stanley plays in that style. I love banjo, I've been wanting to learn it for a while. Bluegrass is one of my fav styles of music seeing as I live in the capitol of the damn music. That being said; that is one pretty instrument. Good luck with the learning!
nice, i like the maple fretboard with the black inlays. ive always wanted a guitar with a maple fretboard but never got one for some reason. i go through guitars every 6 months or so, ive only kept a couple for longer, cause i just cant get rid of them. remember you can always replace the strings, hardware, electronics (i guess not for banjo), and everything else, but you cant replace the way the nexk feels. so if you ever play a piece of junk thats falling apart but feels great, get it!
yea.. i didn't mind paying the $300+ because Deering makes great banjos.. so i know its gonna last for a long time..
thats a pretty decent price for a new piece like that. im just saying, some of the nicest guitars i ever had were my least favorite. the build quality was great, the hardware and electronics were great, but the neck didnt feel that good, and everything else is replaceable. took me a while to learn that one, so i figured id spread the knowledge.
Fuck yea man, banjos the way to go. I absolutely love playing, the sound is incredible. A couple of my friends and I are trying to make a Heavy Metal Bluegrass band, its gonna be sick. Keep on rockin!
hell yea.. these guys sound great! ya should definitely check these guys out.... http://www.myspace.com/the357stringband streetgrass.. they also have some lgood quality live footage on youtube another amazing bluegrass band is Trampled By Turtles... they come outta Duluth, MN... they are definitely in my top three bluegrass bands of all time.. yonder and old and in the way being the other two http://www.myspace.com/trampledbyturtles
