We've been told that having a male plant with the others guarantees that they'll turn female??? A friend of mine said the other day that it's the opposite, and it means they'll turn male. Can someone explain to me what actually happens with the male plant?
Males + females = seeds. You're old enough to know what happens between males and females, as far as I know nature doesn't change the rules, whether human or mj boys n girls act the same! The only way for mj to change sex is if they're abused;>)
simply put, if you have a male plant around your females, you'll either ruin, or compromise the quality of your buds. this is because a male will polinate your precious female buds. this allows for a female plant to expend much of its energy on making seeds, and this energy would otherwise have been used in heavy THC production. Weed with seeds in it will still probably get you somewhat high, but it wont even compare to the quality of sensimillia (weed without seeds). long story short, RIP OUT YOUR MALES PRONTO! there are hundreds of good articles on the internet on differentiating between males and females if you have trouble with this
spot on. the presence of males is the difference between chronic and schwag (bomb weed vs. dirt weed)
I think you're all missing the point of the question. A recent study has shown that different varietys of cannabis actually compete with eachother for rootspace, whereas plants of the same variety do not. This tells us that the plants are 'aware' of the other plants nearby. It is certainly no garuantee that having a male present while new seedlings are growing will influence them to become female, but i think it WOULD increase those chances... especially if the male is of the same variety. I guess it all depends on the genes of the plants and if they would combine well or not. Females only get pollenated when they are in flower ... and until that time comes you can quite happily sit a male plant in their midst.
