okay, so for school, we're doing a community service project. i'm the leader of the "recreation" group. this little bumfuck town has nothing to do, and i need ideas of how to fix it. i think a pool would be wonderful, perfect for the hot weather, but need a more realistic idea. some kind of club, maybe? help me out, people!
I hate to say this.. but.. a mall.. or shopping center. I've seen little shitholes turn into hip places and house prices go up just because of that..
some sort of festival thatll draw folk from surroudning communities can work (tho they usually work best if the centre theyre in is already bigger than those around and tends to draw people regularly), like an art/theatre/craft/childrens festival
Organise an annual erotica/sex toy/movie festival. The resulting negative media coverage and hate mail/death threats from law-abidin Christian types should ensure a massive turnout. And maybe you could even call it after the town. Bumfuck 2008
Allonym had agood idea.... call it like the first annual(something rather) festival, and then they get something to look forward too the next year... ... and throw on the 20th of april.... great date for anything party
You could start a few sports teams, maybe a dance club, barbecue. What I think would be really cool is a music camp. Try to have some local musicians come and teach the kids to play, maybe find some people willing to donate some instruments up in their attics.
Do a youth group. That way you can organize anything as long as you have supportive parents, a place to hang out, crafts to make, bake charity drives to manage, and cool-wicked field trip ideas to go on. That's what I would do if I was your age.
