Just got a grinder and I've got a stupid question about it

This'll probably sound odd to a lot of you guys but I've never done anything with hash before - ever. I used to just chop it up and roll then smoke. But I recently got a pipe and grinder as a gift.

Now when I grind the stuff up, the hash powder is in the bottom tray of the grinder right? What do I do with it? Can I just smoke it? What's the difference?

Like I know I can build it up and compress/cook it into something else, but I don't want to wait if you know what I mean lol...

 

The powder on the bottom is called keef, its basically trichomes that have fallen off the bud and is very potent. What I like to do with keef is save it up and use it to sprinkle on top of a bowl when Im running low on bud. It works wonders to really kick it up a notch. Yes you can smoke it straight but keep in mind its pretty potent, a few hits should do you nicely.

 

sweet, so i can grind up my weed. take the the ground up stuff, put it into the bowl and then add the keef on top too?

 

i usually just keep the keef in the bottom and add the keef to a bowl about every 10 times (after grinding about 3-5 grams of dank weed)

makes up about half a pretty good-sized bowl

 

yup but you usually need to wait a while before theres enough keef to make it worth adding to the bowl.

 

i have a space case, and when i get alot of keif, I either do what skierdood does which is just sprinkle it, or make a type of pressed hash out of it.


this is just a simple way to make blonde hash at your house without a pollen press.
materials: cellophane, or plastic baggie
tape
thick index card or paper
rolling pin
cooking oven

To start, take all the keif you have ( you will need a decent amount), and put it in some kind of cellophane or corner of a plastic baggie. you will need to get all of the keif in one corner of the bag. tape the baggie in which ever way you want your hash to be (square, triangle, rectangle) and then take an index card and wrap it around the taped baggie.

one you have the baggie taped and then wrapped in paper, tape a small corner of the paper so it will stay closed and then put it under some water for like 5 seconds or until it is moist.

at this point you need to have your oven ready at the lowest heat setting, and put your little bundle in the oven for like 10 mins tops.

while its cooking be sure to take it out every few mins and press it with the rolling pin. After the 10 mins throw it in the freezer wait another 10-15

the hash should be a dark color and bricked up nicely

Do most of you guys grind your herb to pack in bowls? I grind for joints, but just break a little piece off if its good nugs and a glass bowl.

 

I have a round metal grinder I twist it and its great for joints weed and hard to burn weed due to tight bud or if weed is so fresh you can use to grind it to dry burn better.

To get Keef you need a stash box with a screen in the lower bottom and under it it has a slide out glass tray to collect the Keef.

Take a nice bud and rub across the screen an you will have very fine green powder like keef as well as the THC crystals that will fall thur as well.
I like to then cap off a bowl with keef.
Clubs sell two gram keef joints 12-15.

 

I bust up the pot for bowls if I'm smoking it to myself. I do this because when it's ground up and you light it, it'll burn quick, and so it's easy to kill a bowl with one toke. If you're smoking with friends, then I just bust up bigger chunks so that it takes longer to burn, gets passed around more.

 

If its beasters I do cuz they are really dense but not with most other bud.

 

Unless its really really dense I dont grind at all. If I am rolling a joint I usually use my fingers to break it up. But I dont roll joints very often.

 

I always use my grinder, I like the kief too much to worry about the weed not lasting as long. You still get high off it. If you're smoking alone you can take a bowl in 1 hit, if you're with people you can re-pack the bowl. That means you're using more weed, but you're also using the grinder....and collecting kief. The kief hits you HARD and I like the high more, it feels more mental for me. You can also turn the kief into hash if you want.

 

Got a mendo-mulcher with the kiff catcher but the screen is all kiffed over and it dont catch like it used to. Same deal with this wierd kiff seperator from jamaica I got, it's little silkscreen is all crammed with kiff, same with my stashbox with the silkscreen on the bottom.

fuck man I dont even bother anymore with my fuckin grinder.

 

my favorite use for kiff is sprinkling it on my joints. although, if you have a lot, try smoking a bowl of straight kiff. i like doing it out of a glass pipe cause mine hits hella hard. just make sure you have a screen.
