...is a great way to get non-believing addicts to stop shooting heroin and feel conftrable on their first day back at treatment...love it. Tellling them that god will cure all and they just need to let go is also a wonderful tool in helping them take accountability for their actions... I really hope god doesn't lead them to 2nd and virginia st to shoot some more heroin...
Atheist's are in limbo doing a negation process which as of yet is unfinished, the negation of arriving at that which is positive. Believer's are in limbo in their process because they have not yet finished the negation process as well. Both believe and disbelieve in the same Thing, so which of the two is right? I would say they are both right and both wrong. God is what you live inside, so how can one ever comprehend the totality? False attributes, silly human emotions applied, and so on. Would an atheist say that the Universe doesnt exist? Surely it does exist, in a dream sense, but the problem is that some of us say that God is not within us and that God exists without us, while some of us say God exists within and without. The problem is that they are both right as well! I think Krishna summed it up best when He said that He is the force behind the scenes but He is not the active scences themselves. Or, God is within us as Atma but we are not God. I guess it's a bit confusing at times but it always helped me understand and quiet my mind when I get frustrated with the metaphysics. God is what God is, not a belief or disbelief, God is the belief or disbelieve in the sense of being allowed to be aware Namaste, I love talking about my Cosmic Mother!!!
my beliefs are atheistic by definition - atleast according to wikipedia (and stalk, my spirits are intact, and high.) - and I think either the definitions I've read of atheism are wrong, or your definition of atheism is wrong, Relayer. I certainly cannot identify with the way you seem to perceive atheists. I don't know. I agree that it is certainly confusing at times, mainly defining my beliefs with a single word. perhaps I should either label myself a hedonist and anything beyond that, describe in as few words as I can, or toss labels out altogether.
Oh no Jimmy, the definition of an atheist is not what is being confused here by any means. You can be all different kinds of atheists, it doesnt matter, what it comes down to is the assumption, or the belief, that there is no God. It's a very simple thing, really. My point is that atheism is no different than a belief in God because both views are incomplete, without knowledge, and are just a guess at what is going on. There is being agnostic which if your not going to really look for Truth, is probably the best position to be in because you dont sway to either extreme. Then, there is the transcendence of thought all together, which leads to something quite different
you have the cutest bear in your sig. anyway though, I tend to agree with you. diff beleifs, but...basically the same in the end. Its how most things are.
all I am saying is that if shot up homeboy wanted a religious treatment center he would have gone to the salvation army instead of a methadone clinic.
If I was a bear I'd want him as my pet anyway. Georgey would love me, i am certain of this. on topic- sometimes getting clean and finding god go hand in hand. sometimes it doesnt.
This is sarcastic eh? I feel the urges of anyone who professess and testify to others knowledge of the unknowable are not to be trusted. I also see the belief that theres 'one truth' to be abecedarian.
Claiming that there is no god is equally foolish to claiming that there is one. No one knows for sure. Faith and knowledge are different things.
i agree... unfortunately as far as i know there is no such thing as an addiction treatment program in america that doesn't force you into hardcore christianity
It's against our policies to preach. he is a former preacher who got fired because 'his ex wife lied and said he beat her'. When he first started I had mad respect for him, but now I think he is trying to convince himself instead of teaching others
I just want to make a couple points and questions hehe. One don't atheist do the exact same thing and preach atheism, and don't say no because they do. And why do atheist care so much about spreading the fact that there is no God if they don'y believe in his/her/whatevers existence? I don't go around yelling at all of the people for believing in bigfoot. Well I am curious if any of you "athiest" (which I am guessing most of you don't know why most people preach atheism) actually know why most of you have a problem with religion and I will tell you. It is mainly because Christians tend to push aside/ want to disprove science or scientific discovery to keep Christianity accurate, but atheist believe that we should try to prove something rather than say it is wrong because it goes against teachings in the bible. I'm sure some of you knew that but I'm betting some of you did not. Just to go over what I said I don't have a big problem with people who are atheist but you can be just as judgemental as christians and isn't that what you didn't like about it? The bible over the head...so don't smack others with atheism over the head its the same thing. Biggest difference is science and faith. Atheist want proof and christians beilieve (although there are people who use it as a crutch).
hmmmm I don't know that all athiests preach athiesm or do not preach it...haven't read the athiest handbook recently. i do know that this guy did not and simply asked to not be preached to. BTW-I am not an athiest, but i think it is wrong to infringe your religion upon others in the work place...expecially people who are basically paying you to counsel them and give them tools to get off drugs...why give them a tool they do not believe in?
Also, if you are so religious that you think god will cure your drug problem, not science ...then you prob shouldn't be working in a methadone clinic IMO
