I have been friends with an older guy (38) from my car club and hes showed me some really good beers. I only say an older guy cause compared to me (19 now) hes older. anyhow, he opened my eyes to good beers, and i like almost anything thats not bud miller coors etc. of course there are some that i like better than others and im not sure if i could pick out a favorite...but im gonna go with sam adams black lager or dogfish head shelter pale ale (depends what mood im in for each of them). anyways, what do you guys suggest i try. mainly ive just been trying all the different sam adams, and everytime i try a new one i crap myself cause its so good (usually). i have tried some other stuff like delirium (sp?) and a few rogues blue moon magic hat petes wicked saranac etc etc. anyways, am i the only youngin out there that likes a good beer? and what kinda stuff can i get in the ballpark of sam adams price. i like heavy stuff, and occasionally somethin fruity like cherry wheat (not like super sweet). thanks guys.

Well no, I mean I started exploring the beer world at 18 and have recently stopped, Im 22 now. I still drink a beer about once or twice a month but dont much have the desire to drink like I used to. The first beer I tried that was 'special' was dogfish head's Olde School Barleywine @ 15%abv. Still one of my favorites actually. Rogue's Red Ale is at the top of my list to this day. Have you tried any of Stone's beer? Arrogant Bastard is wonderful. I also love Lagunita's Brown Sugga and the barleywine is decent too. Young's Double Chocolate Stout is great if you like heavier beer. Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout, Murphys, and obviously Guiness is good stuff. If you like the fruity beer try some Lambic. To be honest I dont care much for the Cherry Wheat, nor the Cranberry. Samuel Adams is good beer though, but the variety they have Im not too crazy about. I dont know man there are way too many beers out there for me to even remember but the one's I listed are fairly easy to find in pub's and not terribly expensive. Also try some Anchor Steam, the Christmas Ale is great but a year away

    Belgian ale is the best.

    Try these:

    Delirium Tremens
    Lucifer
    La Chouffe/McChouffe
    Oude Gueuze

Oh man, I knew so many more great exclusive beers. If I come up with more I'll let you know!

you're not the only one man. I'm getting Blue Moon, Magic Hat, and other better beers while my friends are getting Natty Ice and Bud Dry and claiming that they arent that bad. I would rather shell out the extra cash for quality instead of getting a lot of shitty beer. I feel your pain.

are all of these suggestions in the same price as SA? cause thats what i asked and i know delerium is nowhere near the same price. i actually went to a party a couple weeks ago. there was a 6 of SA cheery wheat, a 6 of SA winter lager, a 6 of blue moon, a 6 of yuengling (sp?) black and tan, a 12 of regular yuengling, a 30 of coors light, and a 30 of natty light. i was with a couple friends and everyone else was a stranger. so i was like whispering to my friends well prob only get one maybe two good ones so lets get diff ones. anyhow, we thought we were being sneaky and the dumbass kids run over to the natty light and tear it up quickly...nobody touched the good shit, just the coors and natty. we wound up taking most of the rest home (the party was even free in the first place). ok well maybe not good shit, but decent stuff and good for party at least. and by the way, age range for this party was like 18-24. i was just shocked at thier stupidity.

oh yea, and ive had that oatmeal stout before, that was weird but awesome. anyways, its hard to try new stuff since im not 21, i have to put in the order before the person leaves, and if its someting unusual, i need backup plans. so i usually just ask for SA and if they dont have the exact one, i tell them to pick another SA out. cause they dont know whats good and whats not either.

Most teens don't care about quality of beer, all they want is the most buzz for the dollar. That's why they go for shitty beer like Bud. You have to ask yourself why you drink beer, is it simply to get drunk or do you want to enjoy the flavor too?

If you're looking for another good tasting beer then try Sierra Nevada, if you like micro brew beer then you'll like this. They have a variety and they're all good, but their porter is my favorite. All I can say is that it has far more beer taste than 95% of the other beers on the market today, so be ready for something that has twice the flavor of Sam Adams. Although it's brewed in California I can buy it half the stores here in Michigan, even Kroger has the Pale Ale.

Around here it all depends on where you buy it, some places charge more than others. It may be anywhere from $15 to $18 for a 12 pack before tax.

Cool, I'm glad I like it, I just wish more people preferred quality beer over the macro brewed piss water that's served in most bars around America today. But then again, most people just looking to get drunk would rather drink a light beer that goes down like water then drinking something with substance. This tells me you like beer, not just alcohol.

yea, i havent had liquor in who knows how long. i do like to get drunk, but i like chillin on some good beers with my friends just as much. depends what kinda mood im in really, and who all is there. every once in a while ill take a shot or two, like if theres no beer left or if its my friends bday and he wants to take a shot, or just anything like that. rather than that i dont really touch liquor.

I prefer shots over beer, but once I had this really good mexican beer with salt in it.
I don't remember what it was called.

Most teens (me) don't have enough money to be picky. My group is better than most because all we drink is yeungling, which is pretty good compared to bud or natty ice.

red stripe is really good (and the bottles are really cool), lebates is a very great canadian beer, Foster's is good (although I hear it's considered low grade in Australia), and for some reason I really like Rolling Rock, don't ask why. but red stripe is probably my favorite

I agree, redstripe is a good choice...I bought some the other day. :p
If you like darker beers, I would sugest a porter...I like the one made by Anchor Brewing, but I'm not sure if it's available in stores, since I've not seen it. Blackbutte porter is another dark beer, which is available in stores.
