Interesting thing at school with teacher today...

today a really interesting thing happened in my spanish class. I'd like to tell about it.

so I'm sittin in spanish class when a student, who my teacher nicknames ricky martin, starts gettin teased cause theirs a rumor ricky martin is gay. suddenly almost the whole class starts crackin all these gay jokes and being very rude. Then my teacher shut up everyone and started lecturing. She said with a very mean face and tone about how we shouldn't bother them for what they chose. it's their personal business. for a few minutes she went on. the whole class froze, no one said a word and everyone just stared at her. Then suddenly she got an even louder almost yelling voice and said, would if you were hated for being heterosexual, just because of that. would if you got beat up cause you were a boy and liked a girl. now you see how they feel.

anyways, she said more stuff and it went on for a while, but I was like, wow!! she was so powerful and emotional with her words, I couldn't keep my eyes off her with admiration. I think she should have a talk with my geography teacher, who laughs a long with the students sometimes and doesn't stop them(they don't bash on gays much though, just small religious jokes like the world was started by adam and eve not adam and steve or whatever.)

sorry, I'm a bad rambler. I was just really glad she did this. I was getting a little scared of some of the kids in there lol. I wish more people in this world were more like the spanish teacher, it would be such a better place!

 

WOW! Drew, thanks for sharing something so nice. Please give your teacher a hug for me...or at least tell her that she's the stuff of American Heros., those who teach their kids more than just the the book material. Steve

That's something inspiring right there.

Not only that a teacher would dare to delve into such a fragile subject such as this, but that she would also attempt to help the students understand it and educate them of equal rights.
It's nice surprises like these that tend to brighten people's days.

Well we are talking about high school students, many who haven't work out many of the details of their own sexuality, let alone others.

Teased, dumb jokes, silly comments about who one chooses as a partner .........all pretty frustrating for us. but pay attention to the crap the girls have to put up with, particularly the plain or average girls, how the straight guys tease their mates over being with a girl thats not up to scratch in the looks department.

Also pay attention to which straight guys don't do the dumb gay jokes thing, you don't get it anywhere near as much from the guys that do well with women.

After high school you'll realise it has more to do with experience than anything else. Average Straight guys freaking out at being hit on by another guy, cos they've never experienced that from a girl, they've always had to do the chasing. Whereas the hot straight guys, the 9/10s and the 10/10s know what it is to reject most women, they know what it is to to avoid girls that pine over them, they are used to being checked out by other guys and while say no, tend to be more comfortable about it.

As you get older, you'll probably find yourself pittying many straight guys and girls.

Unfortunately for too many straight guys, life means having only one or two girlfriends and then marrying the 3rd, so they get into thier 30s and even 40s without even some of the most basic knowledge of the opposite sex, never having been with a partner with a higher sex drive than them, sexual encounters rarely lasting longer than an hour, hooking up with girls primarily due to sex then years later when that dies realising they didnt have that much in common with them in the first place.

Interesting what you say above, I definitely believe it to be true.

 

It's only natural to make fun of things you don't understand - it's better than beating on them, anyway - but good on her for correcting them. Probably won't stop the kid being teased, but at least he'll know he has an ally in authority, which I would've killed for when I was at school.
