one of the questions on my application for resedince for university is what type of music do you listen to, i would think to put rock/classic rock but i want to be sure... my favourite music is: The Beatles Pink Floyd Led Zeppelin Jimi Hendrix Frank Zappa hopefully you get my point because it's a long list... anyway, if you could help me find the right term for it... i'd love you forever peace:daisy: :daisy: LoveDaisy
thanks, i did it on line and they didn't even ask that question... i though it was important...haha i don't want to be paired up with people who hate my music... thanks though, i still wonder what to call it on other ocassions :sunny:
I thought anything that is rock and is older then like the eighties can be righteous called classic rock. So even if it does fit, it isn't an accurate genre name since a band always can be catagorized more specific then just classic rock. Blues rock, psychedelic rock, progressive rock, pop rock, hard rock, garage rock, surf rock (a well, I think surf rock is rarely called classic rock but you get the picture  ). 'Problem' with all those classic rock bands is that they most of the time crossover, haha. Like Pink Floyd has very psychedelic but also progressive rock elements in their sound and is often called both. Well, Zappa was even more experimental. Progressive and psychedelic doesn't even describe his stuff well enough! I'd call the most typical Beatle stuff psychedelic pop/rock, but please don't make a big deal of it, it's just a genre name. Led Zeppelin is more bluesy hard rock and Hendrix made more bluesy psychedelic rock in my opinion. But in short rock 'n roll fits just fine as well
