Now here's a blast from the past! does anyone remember a guy from Australia called 'Russell Morris'? He made a record (single) called "The Real Thing" around 1968 I think and was responsible in diverting my musical appreciation away from popular music. I managed recently to track down a 2 CD of all of Russell's songs and it was just so great to hear this song again after all these years, although digitally remastered and cleaned up it still retains its feel from the decade. If I remember correctly, the radio stations at the time could not play "The Real Thing" in its entirety because it was too long! over six minutes. .....but once it became a cult hit as it were then it got the attention it deserved! remember it?
hmmm not been here long, I was looking for a forum that included people who are genuinely interested in folk music, maybe this is not the place to find them
this is a very slow subforum, and as you can see, dominated by the "big names." I get this same sound of crickets when I mentions my singer songwriters
