For many a year I have been searching my soul for for a spiritual out cove, I have had been a christian since birth and still am but I have lost faith in the organized christian religions. Most of them have become so hate filled toward people of different ethnicity's, sexual orientations, and religions. Ever since my enlightenment of the truth about the ways of organized Christianity I have been walking a path back to the woods.

The Druid path had been a place of fogginess in my mind. At first I was skeptical about even the consideration of Druidry. Those mysterious robed figures at Stonehenge has always instilled fear in my mind, for I was ignorant of their ways. Ever since researching the Druid path has it dawned on me that this is my true spirituality. The bond with nature these people share is fantastic. Though I am approaching the beginning of my druid path I will still hold the teachings of Jesus close to my heart because no matter what new faith or spirituality I take up I will always be a Christian. I will become a Druid-christian, combining both spiritual teaching into one.

Here is the order that I am planning on joining, they have truly inspired me into entering this spirituality.

Beware anyone calling themself a druid.
Druidism died centuries ago, and what people practice today is nowhere near the same thing.
The druids were all about human sacrifice. They read prophecy in entrails.

Loki, you have no idea what you are talking about! Yes, what is considered "Ancient Druidry" has died out because we have no real written evidence of what occurred because the Druids did not have a written tradition, and most of the written evidence was by Julius Cesear and the Romans, who were by the way, known enemies of the Druids and Irish Pagans.....so you have to take what they say with a grain of salt. There is no real proof that their entire spirituality was based on sacrifice and I believe that is just a bunch of hooey. I have been a druid for some time now and find that those opinions are demeaning and ignorant. While we can't be entirely sure, we do have to have common sense when thinking about the sources of this information.

I am so glad that gittarius has decided to walk the path of Druidry, it is really a truly remarkable and magical path to partake in. So much lore, wonder and mystery. Yes this is a TRUE mystery tradition for so much is still unknown to the real world. But it really is a beautiful way to live. Happy Imbolq by the way!

You're right, History is written by the winners, and the winners at that time didnt like the druids.
But you're being foolish if you think that the origional Druids werent a bunch of violent peeps. EVERY religion of the time was bloody, and pagans werent any different than christians in that sense.

You are right as well/ But I didn't say that they didn't do sacrafice at all. It might have been a very potent form of magic. But that's why there is Reformed Druidry, which is what we have today. And today, sacrifices are metaphorical than anything else.

And don't forget that the druids had many different roles. There were three castes in fact. The Bards--storytellers, poets, historians; Ovates--diviners, herbologists; Druids--judges, and all around good guy (haha)

it is really interesting. what we must remember though is that what druids today are not what druids of yesterday were. since there is no way of really knowing what their official practice was, we have to go by our instincts and create our form of it, basically, neo-druidry. it's a beautiful path, which is full of love and mystery and dedication and hard work. a lot of druidry today is about creating our own path, and that's the beauty of it.
