Sort of pointless post... =) I love Janis (R.I.P.) she put so much soul into her music. I think my favorite song is 'Cry Baby'.
Can't 4get the Rose :H woodstock 69 jim morrison, janis joplin and jimmy hendrix that was a great show.
Janis is one of my faves, what a great voice! Not everyone digs her, but I love it, especially her early stuff with BigBrother and the Holding Company.
I'm only 19,but I see her as one of my heroes. She helped break the barriers that all the women had to marry, stay home, and take care of her husband. I love her voice and yes,I do believe she left too early...I would have loved to see her perform. I watch Woodstock 69 on DVD as much as possible. I certainly wish I could have been there during that time instead of today when no one really cares anymore.
You know she started out singing in church? Soft and sweet. Then one day somebody told her she should speak up a little more. The rest is history. x
She is up there with Robert Plant as the greatest rock vocalist of all time. Her soul and passion were unrivaled. Such a shame that in Hendrix, Joplin, and Morrison, we lost arguably the three most passionate and expressive individual artists of the 60's.
I love stories like that. Once she started speaking up, she realized she had a hell of a lot to say Thank God she said it.
CLEVELAND — The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is celebrating the brief, electrifying career of Janis Joplin with a week of events building up to a tribute concert. The hall in Cleveland calls the bluesy singer one of rock's most influential artists. Joplin rose to fame during San Francisco's 1967 "Summer of Love," and died at age 27 of a drug overdose. The rock hall and Case Western Reserve University are hosting talks this week by those who knew Joplin, including her siblings, her former road manager, and Jefferson Airplane guitarist Jorma Kaukonen. Saturday's tribute show will feature Lucinda Williams, Country Joe McDonald, and songwriter Bob Neuwirth, who penned the Janis Joplin favorite, "Mercedes Benz."
Janis is my Queen! My favorite song is "Little Girl Blue" and "Summertime" they always make me feel better when I'm feeling down.
