who would when in a fight between a primate and a canine?

you can pick any primate and any canine... explain your reasoning.

it was more of a playful "fight"..

"well a monkey can hit a dog with a stick"

"dogs have big meat eating teeth"

"ape can climb a tree and shit on the chihuahua"

"a dog can out run a monkey"

that sort of thing.. i would NEVER want to see this really happen.. i'd rather debate the possiblities.

When the baboons move in, lions move out. Primates can be some mean mothers.

A chimp or gorilla and many other larger primates could easily pull the legs off a dog. Remember what those chimps did to that guy last year.

the immages clearly show a felid and a primate. in what appears to be a very nonconflict situation.

well no outcome of any conflict is ever certain. age, experience, strength and agility of each individual reguardless of species plays a roll.

as you know our big brains won the day.
canids, dogs, wolves, et cetera, are at a considerable disadvantage one on one with almost anything other then a very small infant, or extremely frail and aged primate.

the strenght of canids, and it has been argued humans learned this from them, comes from their ability to attack in packs and teams.

one dog alone, however intimidating it may be able to make its appearance, is doing well just to keep itself fed.

unlike cats who have speed and claws which they use to advantage in addition to agility and stength, the dog family has only the latter and even that, while perhaps superior in some canids to some primates, is generaly inferior, mass for mass, to nearly all species of cats. primates have tremendous advantage, not only in their brains which can nearly always anticipate and out manuver the tactics of any individual canine, the arraingement and range of motion of primate limbs is also of considerable advantage in any confrontation.

it was their economic inconvience to early agriculturalist that came to resault in the wolf's portrayal as slavering menace, rather then any, in most cases, real threat of harm to their own persons.

this is not to suggest a wild, or especialy ferral, canine cannot act in dangerous and sometimes unpredictable ways, but as a phyla, an individual dog is at an inhierent disadvantage in any confrontation with any adult and experienced primate.

fossess do eat limurs. but fossess arn't canids and limurs are considered shirtail cousins for the most part, to other primates. all a dog can do is knock down their opponent and bite. a primate can flank and strangulate them. a cat, can of course, latch on to either with teeth and foreclaws and then disembowl them with their hindclaws.

Primates and canines have been friends since the cave days, but I think primates would win because it seems to me that dogs rely on primates for survival more than primates rely on dogs for survival.

Canines are good figthers, yet so are primates. If we took a pit bull (i.e. one of the best fighting dogs), i pitted it against one of the best primate fighters the Chimpanzee. The fight would only last as long as the Chimp wanted to play with the dog.
