Ok So This morning I was in the mood for a new place to eat so I found this NY bagel/deli place online and seeing as I am from NY i wanted to go there. This despite 90% of the "new york" deli or pizza or bagel places in LA being a complete sham. I get there and its a sit down place so i sit down. I order and browse the web on my iphone (brag). I ordered like 5 things and one of them was french toast. The waiter brings my food and I notice he didn't give me any syrup. The following dialogue ensues: Me: umm...... excuse me. Aren't we missing something?!? Waiter: ???!? (confused and semi-retarded look on his face) Me: How about some syrup? Waiter: oh, sorry sir, we ussually don't bring it out unless someone asks for it. Me: um.... I got Freedom toast (i ussually call it freedom toast cause I love George Bush and hate French people) Waiter: Yes I am aware thank you. Me: Well whoever came up with that policy is an idiot Apparently I was within earshot of the owner because he came out from behind the counter pretty quickly Owner/manager/whatever I don't care: I came up with that policy and I want you to leave my restuarant Me: I was just pointing out its pretty stupid to not give people syrup when they order freedom toast or pancakes or whatever Owner: Leave please. Me: I haven't eaten yet Owner: Get the fuck out of my restaurant. Me: (as I am walking out) go fuck yourself wtf??? Anyways I had to go to a deli to get my american classic breakfast combo..
I hate asshole customers.... they have ABSOLUTELY NO respect for people who are trying to make a living. they just make lives a living hell, because they have a bug up their ass and want to make a scene and/or get a free meal. thats my vent, take it as you have it. and good on the owner. good riddance to customers who just want to cause problems.
Yeah, fuck rude customers. Customer service is a shitty industry to work in and that's not a stupid policy, if you had the slightest clue of what food cost means, you'd understand that 90% of the general population have IQ's that monkeys can compete with and enjoy wasting condiments. The exact same reason why we keep our ketchup behind the counter and only hand it out in small amounts with eat-ins only unless requested.
this is very very true. it's one thing if it's a situation like the diner scene in Five Easy Pieces (y'know: ) but people who cause a scene because of their customer status are unsavory folk...
on the one hand, i agree with everyone who's complaining about asshole customers. on the other hand, if i kicked everyone out who had an illigitimate complaint, i would have no customers left. sounds like an immature asshole meeting an immature asshole to me
To the original poster....ditto to the above. You acted like an asshole, you deserved to get kicked out of the store. Next time wait until you are provoked before you start insulting people.
If you do happen to have no self respect and want to cause unnecessary trouble about having to ask for your syrup, why not make the complaint legitimate by using tact. It doesn't pay to go into a full blown assault just because you're a baby who can't get what you want. I think the owner had balls and would love to work for someone who actually stands up to asshole customers.
yeah, and customers suddenly think you have to read their minds for what they exactly want... we arent THAT gifted...... try to work in a place to where you have to do temps on steaks, burgers and even salmon...... and trying to read what a customer wants (rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, and well). my latest story involved this man and this date he was with. he ordered a rare steak (ribeye), while she ordered a well done steak (ribeye). I cooked both perfectly, during the middle of a rush...... they both got ticked off at their server because the server wouldnt serve alcohol to the woman because she didnt have any proof of age on her (no ID) and ABC is always in town, its a college town after all.... so, they wanted to treat her like shit and make her run back and forth for more napkins (or straws, or anything they could think of)...... so, then it came to the steaks.... the woman said her steak wasnt well done enough, she brought it back, I looked at it and it was completely well done...... but the lady insisted she saw pink in it....... I said I would throw it on the grill a bit longer, but I know its already well done...... my boss (who is now fired) had to sit there and harp on me, because he is a chef and he thinks he is so much better...... I told him it was cooked properly to begin with, and he insisted on being a jerk.... after that was recooked for them with new potatoes and vegetable, the man sends his rare steak back, saying he wanted his steak cooked more on the well done side. I was not in a happy mood by this point. bear in mind I had a full grill during this time (it was a sat night after all)...... it was one of the thickest steaks I could find so that I could time the rare steak with the well done steak and get them out at both the same time and both done perfectly) well, then my boss felt the need to really harp on me. I told him that I cooked both steaks as instructed and how it was asked for..... but he felt he should still act like a jerk. so, I had to cook a thick ass steak to almost well done in the middle of a rush, and then the guy afterwards proceeded to insist that we sold him a kc strip instead of a ribeye (Ive worked with steaks for 8 years)...... and people wonder why we have a hatred towards asshole customers....
Well I figure it was your neat little energy that pissed the owner off. I belive most restarants have the rule "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone." You pissed him off and he tossed you out. Life is kind of like that.
Madcrappie, I feel for you. Its awful when the boss makes you look incompetent for the sake of saving face for themselves or the company. Also to you customers out there, remember that these days most businesses run on efficiency. We're expected to do twice the work with half the staff and deal with incompetent managers, suppliers, all kinds of beauracratic barriers to offering good, human service. So just remember in the scheme of things who is really being shit on. Also, we just work there, we don't make the fucking rules. So fuck off and tell the manager to HIS face that he is an idiot.
