do you really talk to people like that? "umm...aren't we missing something?"
If I didn't kick you out I would definitely fuck with your food

Some places have a sign that says 'please request condiments'.

If you don't see it, ask for it. You know, like: "Please pass the Gray Poupon!"

indeed. people dont see this, nor think of this. and they can be really petty about things........ okay, they do have legitimate complaints sometimes..... food served on the cold side, or a rare steak went out as a well done, or vice versa...... and then the cook always looks bad, yet there are at least two other people who can fuck up with grabbing the wrong steak, or burger...... there is usually an expo (who can accidentally get it switched around) or the food runner would forget which temp was what.......

and then there are people who think that two dollar tip is sufficient on a 60 dollar tab........ poor servers

    people have NO clue

what do you do? do you like to fuck with the cooks and/or your server??

if people love to fuck with people in the food industry, you should watch the movie "waiting" because there could be cooks/servers out there that would fuck with peoples food who insist on being rude or obnoxious...

I would never do that, or allow any of my cooks to do that on my watch, but still Im sure there are places that do, and Ive heard horror stories...... especially with fast food joints

Have any of you that work in customer service ever noticed that when customers patience, treat you with respect etc. you're willing to spend almost all your energy just to meet their needs? Then comes the asshole that straight away wants to kick up a stink and you just cannot be assed. We have to be fake nice to people all day, surely the customer can do it just once.

Wow, you coulsnt have been a bit nicer about the syrup thing? If you havnt worked in customer service, or a restaurant, there is always alot going on behind the scenes and you dont know why certain policies are in place. Dont judge unless youve done it yourself, fo reals.

fortunately, I dont have to deal with the customers face on...... Im in the heat of the kitchen (sweating balls during the summer, and then during the winter, Im actually freezing because of the return air)....... I had to deal with an asshole GM (who is a chef).. who insisted on treating anyone beneath him with no respect...... but hey, the servers complained about his assholeness to the owner so much that he finally fired that guy.... so that guy got his due karma...... he was just so negative, and never gave out any compliments. some chefs out there (or people that went to schooling) think they are so much better than regular cooks, because they got a degree. big deal. I lived and learned by experience. I swear Im a much better cook than most chefs. they can come up with good recipes for sure, but when it comes to busting out food during a rush, I think I can come off better.

I really enjoy and welcome compliments. and I get them all the time...... I just really hate it when people want to fuck with cooks/servers (even when they get their order done perfectly). and you know, we are human too, we make mistakes (I cant say I never fuck up)..... but like someone said before (I think cate) most people dont know what happens behind the scenes..... it can be chaos in the kitchen...... you can have a short staff, food isnt being run quickly enough, and it could be sitting under the heat lamps too long, or whatever...... someone can grab the wrong order, etc.... just so many factors, yet they like to make the people who are working their ass off feel inferior. which is rude.

man, when I worked back in the steakhouse, I used to get tips all the time for cooking someones steak perfectly, or picking a nice steak out..... being in the sports bar is a bit different, they seem to tip the servers a bit more (probably because they are all hot)

Oh god, I had the 'wipe and set' job today that hosts get, so I had to run around, clear all the tables, wipe them down and set them back up. I hated it! You get so hot, and I feel like people are always staring at my ass when I have to learn over the tables to wipe the back. They are big.

I never say anything to the servers in a rude way. If my food is fucked up - I don't return it...I just don't eat and talk to the manager (I always offer to pay for half of it).

I said I offer to pay. Usually the manager says not to worry about it...but I always leave a nice tip for the server.

i prefer to actually put the syrup on my own...and i usually go for the higher quality syrup, instead of house syrup most places have...so yes, i rather ask for it then just have someone put it on

just like i do with salad dressing

    No kidding.

To you Bronson, maybe if you weren't such a dick, you wouldn't get kicked out of a begel store.

To the manager, you're not going to have much business if you throw out every minor asshole. Toughen up and accept the criticism that was only vaugley aimed at you when someone critiques your syrup hoarding. That's how the nazi's made pancakes.

And the worst part of it was, after he tells you to get out, you couldn't have manned up and tried to reason with him after he served you food. You just ran off and wimpered as you go.

Learn to deal with minor human interactions you fucking wuss.
