Do UTI's necessarily require an antibiotic?

Does anyone know if UTI's require an antibiotic? Or will they go away on their own with plenty of water and good nutrition?

    Thanks,

Oh, also: does anyone know if it is likely that the UTI will spread to my partner if we have sex?

UTI's are one thing that I believe do require antibiotics. They can spread to your kidneys if not treated correctly and quickly.

Vitamin C will help too, something about making the PH in your bladder too acidic for bacteria to thrive, as well as giving a boost to your immunity. Lots of water, cranberry juice, good nutrition and vitamin C will all help heal this one and prevent ones in the future BUT an antibiotic is still needed.

ive only been on antibiotics once or twice for uti's... but the ones ive gotten are typically very very mild where drinking humongous quantities of cranberry juice make it go away. but like i said, they were very very mild ones

you should not have sex while you have a uti

No. The doctors will say that you need it, but you honestly don't. But Allonym is right, you shouldn't have sex while you have a UTI. You may have gotten a UTI from HAVING sex. When you have pain, drink a tablespoon... of baking soda in some water. It's gross, but it will get rid of the pain. Then get pomegranet extract, and drink that. For about a weak, and stay away from sugars. It should go away.

all uti should seek medical advice. if it is advanced and there is blood in your urine, pain, back pain contanst need for a wee you will probably need meds you may not think you need meds, but if the infection spreads and it will do this mainly silently and you could end up in hospital

sometimes, very mild cases can be fixed with alot of water, cranberry juice
too much vitamin C will make it worse(the acidity causes problems)and no sex
