nope, but I am on AIM right now. listen to lorax is the name if anyone wants to chat about the ridiculous universe we're living in.
I've been wanting to buy a sitar, but they're so expensive!!! do you know where I can find a decent priced one?
Well, my first sitar I bought off ebay for 300$ Guess what. It was a total piece of shit! It would not stay in tune....oh god it was terrible. So I learned from my mistakes and bought one from someone in California who is very familiar with the instruments, and I played it before I bought it to make sure it was exactly what I was looking for. They are expensive, but they are a worthwhile investment.
how much was it? and have you played the electric guitar style sitars? they seem to be cheaper and they say its close to the sound....
I dislike the electric sitars....they don't feel like divinity splashing in my face the way a sitar does. I paid close to 2 thousand. Good instruments cost a lot of money. Don't settle for anything cheap, and play it before you buy it.
I probably got ripped off, but I wanted the best one I could get. It was really worth it. The base is FAT. You can get a good one for 600$
Yeah, I hate buying instruments without playing them. I bought a 5 string bass off ebay and it just sucks. But I'm trying to get a job and wanna save up for one. just in case I can't find someone who caries sitars, do you know of any reliable websites that might offer them for a reasonable price? $2000 or less.
ali akbar khan, an incredible sarode player, has a college out in california. they have a website and they offer quality instruments. I would buy from them. ali akbar college of music, I think it's called. Look it up. Great place. He still teaches there. Also, go to www.last.fm and type in his name ali akbar kahn (or khan i can never remember) and listen to him play... it's beautiful. when you go to make a purchase, I'd call them up and tell them exactly what you want.
keep looking. You will find it at sopme point, it's inevitable. Just immerse yourself in the drug culture as much as you can. Always meet new people and keep asking. Festivals give you a like 346343545% advantage just to let you know.
