Drug tests: I have a prescription for Xanax XR, can I take Valium and be ok?

I have a prescription for Xanax XR. If I get drug tested for my job, can I still take valium and claim the benzo + test was from Xanax XR or will it show up different? Thanks!

 

usually a urinalysis will detect only a family of drugs (benzos, opiates), not specific to a particular compound (Xanax, hydrocodone). the chance remains that the sample will be subjected to a further analysis.

 

Yeah youll be fine.. Be up front if asked.. If you take medication.. Benzos are not really a employers concern... If your clean for weed, coke,herion,meth, Youll be fine.. One thing though.. Be sure your benzo intake is moderate.. A high content in your test will point to abuse....Dont be so paranoid... Or just quit the pills for a while... What kind of job makes a difference also. You dont drive a school bus do you?

Valium and its active metabolites have a half-life of 100+ hours, while Xanax's half-life is about 6 hours. So, even after 4 or 5 days without taking any Valium, you'll still have about 1/4 of a pill's dose in your blood stream.
